Online jewellery retailer Arlette Gold (www.arlettegold.com) has made the move into bricks and mortar, with a winter, pop-up shop on Brixton?s Coldharbour Lane. The three-week-only store will feature artfully picked pieces from a team of international, independent designers that are unusual, affordable, classic and reflect contemporary trends.

Arlette Gold specialises in telling the story of their designers and processes ? every piece comes with a backstory and meaning. The shop is the perfect place to find thoughtful presents, affordable indulgences, or simple ways to update your look ? find anything from a present for a partner to a stocking filler for a child.

The store will be open Thursday 16th November - Sunday 3rd December.

    • They’ve backed away from pretending they produce their own goods recently. That claim sat at the centre of the misdirection for years. They’ve now accepted they can’t sustain it, so they’re beginning to highlight the local independent bakeries whose products they actually sell. The business is essentially a courier model running on a slim margin.
    • Another sparrow hawk visor to our cherry tree at the weekend.  Our robin survived, but we may be a sparrow down.     any thoughts on bird feeders & bird baths with the current bird flu?  I try to wash out the bird bath most days when at home, but not on the 3 days in a row that I’m in the office & the bird feeders rather less regularly. Would it be better not to have at all (as my partner thinks)?
    • OOOPS. My daughter just had to pay a five pound fine. I hadn't put a stamp on it. I remember wondering whether to use a  first or second class stamp,  and clearly when I posted it I still hadn't decided (but sadly didn't notice). I feel really bad for suspecting a postie might have  opened it.  Sorry posties.
