Road work in Southwark

Just before I start my whinge, I should say that I cycle commute to the City and only use my car once or twice a week. But I cannot believe the amount of road works which seem to hold me up wherever I try to go. The bottom of Rye Lane, which is causing sever delays at rush hour (also for bikes); the road works in Dulwich Village and now in Court Lane, the road works on College Road and on Sydenham Hill. They all seem to be taking forever, and I don't ever see anyone working on them.

There is also - supposedly - road work at Denmark Hill, travelling north from ED station. I saw one lane cordoned off with cones this morning but no suggestion of any hole. I agree, it is a drag.

Also Lordship Lane near the Co-Op and Dartmouth Road in Forest Hill (which I mistakenly went down the other day in a bid to avoid the roadworks at the top of Sydenham Hill. And was stuck there for a long, long time).
