Recommended Posts

Hi I am reaching out to someone who has experience in legal speak - can someone read the below and confirm what it means ASAP thanks

The Respondent Husband shall pay to the Applicant wife periodical payments for the benefit of the children of the family Harvey and Leo. Payments shall be at the rate of 6000.00 per annum per child, payable monthly in advance by standing order from the Absolute and shall end on:-

(i) each child attaining the age of 21 or

(ii) each child entering full time employment, whichever shall be the later; or

(iii) a further order.

Which bit are you finding difficult to understand? 6,000 divided by 12 (or thereabouts)= monthly amount per child. This will end when they are 21 or in full time employment or if there is another order.

Corrected because I wrote in haste and based my sums originally on weekly rather than monthly - Many aposl!!

Does it not just mean that the husband will pay the wife ?1,000 per month (?500 per child) in advance by standing order until the children reach the age of 21, get full time jobs, or the court makes a new order which supercedes this one?

The payments are to start from the date of the Decree Absolute i.e. the date the divorce is final. Otherwise it is pretty straightforward as explained above.

Hi so basically it is correct that the payments stop once the child has either reached 21 or if they have got full. Time paid work before the age of 21 ? Apologies for poor grammar writing on iPhone with poor eyesight - thanks for feedback so far

    • Large supermarkets, the big shop, not relying on mum getting the bus into town, longer opening hours, end of price controls and other restrictions.  All affected the high street well before the internet.   Rye Lane is still pretty buzzy.  Loads of independent shops.  Modern life is not always rubbish
    • Don't know about Lordship Lane, but Rye Lane 50 years ago would be four deep on the pavement on a Saturday, not no more then.  Amazon and the supermarket home delivery services have one heck of a lot to answer for. Stop using them, get back to the shops before the choice becomes so limited. In fact, do one thing, ditch using Amazon.
