Saturday's ride starts in Peckham Square and ventures up town to Look Mum No Hands -- the cyclists' favourite cafe on Old Street. Starts at 10am from Peckham Square (by Peckham Library, SE15 5JR)and returns two hours later.

Amanda will be leading and the route probably as last time at

It will be usual easy-paced ride with time for a coffee at LMNH. This is the last Saturday Ride in 2017, so come and join us for a seasonable ride. Decorated bikes welcome! Christmas lights, Santa hats -- decorate yourself too.

By Boxing Day the whole staying-in-and-watching-the-TV-in-the-warm thing starts to wear off so try our December 26th special. It's led by Werner starting 10am from Canada Water Library, opposite CW Station, SE16 7AR

All details await finalisation. Come to Canada Water and take a gentle, 2 hour ride somewhere or other. Burn off a few of yesterday?s calories and build up an appetite for Boxing Day lunch. Everyone welcome.

Please note no ride on Dec 30th. After these 2 rides, we will be into 2018 with the first Saturday ride at Dulwich on January 6th. Seasons Greetings to all our riders and looking forward to seeing you on one of these 2 rides and in 2018.

I've been told that Look Mum No Hands closes on Friday and re-opens in the new year so there will be no coffee-drinking there on this ride.

So they are going to Rapha Cafe in Spitalsfield instead. Rapha do upmarket cycling kit and have a "serious" club and sponsor 2 racing teams. There will be time for a coffee and a bit of a look round.

Amanda still leading and will use some of the route to LMNH. Those who have been to LMNH will be intrigued by the very different cultures in the 2 cafes. Ride length and start/finish location and times all unchanged. So still Peckham Square, 10-12.

    • As I understand it Charlie Smith did put himself forward for selection in GG but Labour members chose someone else to represent them, Liam McGrath https://southwarklabour.com/our-candidates/   It'll be interesting to see if there are other defections - surely the Greens want a drip, drip, drip of news from now to May suggesting the momentum is with them.
    • Thanks for your feedback - we always appreciate hearing from members about their experience. The pool temperature at JAGS Sports Club is maintained at 29oC, in line with industry guidelines for mixed-use pools.  This temperature has been designed to balance comfort for lane swimmers and families. Air temperature is also monitored regularly to ensure a comfortable environment for swimmers, spectators and staff. The shower Temperature Mixing Valves (TMVs) were changed in December to improve consistency, and we hope this has made a noticeable difference. If you would like to discuss your experience in more detail, please contact us directly at [email protected] or 020 8613 6500 and we'll be really happy to help.
    • One wonders if he would have defected if he had, ahem, held on to the leadership of Southwark and whether he felt that "Labour are no longer the vehicle for social justice" during his leadership election........my how quickly things change in the thoughts of a politician 😉 I think this sums things up quite nicely: A senior Southwark Labour spokesperson hit back: “Local residents can draw their own conclusions about Cllr McAsh’s swift move from Labour leadership hopeful to the Green Party, after he didn’t get his own way. While he’s thinking about his own career, Southwark Labour are delivering for residents.” One wonders if he will stand as a Green candidate in Goose Green.
    • No doubt if he determines to stand for a ward he will enlighten us - at least his track record is one of using this site to communicate (inter alia). I would suspect that (1) his personal views on traffic will have remained consistent but that (2) his views on local democracy and proper consultation will have as well.
