Handiness (chop saw + operation) for a DIY project?

Recommended Posts

Hello, I had posted this in the 'Items Wanted' section but someone suggested I post here for a wider audience.

I have a (somewhat lofty for me) goal to DIY some pine furniture and want to alter the legs (shortening overall and ideally cutting to an angle but that's more of a 'nice to have'). Any chance anyone is willing to offer some handiness and use of a chop saw? I wouldn't trust myself to use one but am happy to discuss compensation...the single quote I received was the same as the price of the furniture so doesn't really seem worth it!

Also: I've inquired at B&Q and Travis Perkins and neither can offer help, nor did they really have any suggestions of where to go.

thanks in advance for any other suggestions!

    • Although this sounds worrying, a "bitey" fox is unusual. I see foxes all the time where I live near Rye Lane and have never experienced this. I've even seen a fox sitting in the garden where an outdoor cat lives, whilst the cat was there - the cat was fine and is still alive. I think my flat is on a fox path because I hear and see them most nights, none of the local cats seem bothered by them. I can't help but wonder what would make the fox act in such a way, I've just read that toxoplasmosis might make them more aggressive

    • Thanks Sue.  No the car just drove on.  We don't know if they noticed.  We were driving behind.  We were just glad we could be with the cat, and take him to the vet, rather than leaving him there 😞
    • Certainly the infamous (and mythical) SE London cat killer turned out to be foxes attacking dying and dead cats injured by cars, but fox: cat encounters do appear to happen, even where cats are victorious. Fox: adult humans less so. At least where foxes are the aggressors.
