Very exciting. And your reason? Happy to contribute towards 1000s of deaths in London each year from the poor air?? The future is electric. As nobody on a bike goes further than about 30 miles nowadays ideal (I've done 500 miles on a bike in a day when I used it as a sole form of transport)

The future is actually pricing unnecessary private transport off the roads with a view to cleaning up the air..... so, people will think twice about driving the short distances where they could use alternate means.

A correlation with improvements in public transport is essential.

Wow, right on. That's a pub conversation (I am a professional tree huger BTW so many of my posts are to provoke discussion).

You can also argue that a near empty bus isn't great for the environment either.

Why? Prey tell. What's your issue? Why didn't you respond to TfL's consultation? Don't you have bigger issues ie the increasingly tougher restrictions on getting a licence in the first place and the cost of insurance? This is a social network/community forum where members talk about issues rather than post one liners. Persuade me. (yes I know I am coming across as pompous).

Not pompous at all Malumbu, imho, to expect posters to engage in a discussion rather than simply repeatedly bumping posts without any topic development.

I think others have made some excellent points, and I'd be very interested in reading further debate. xx

    • Is Dell Autos closing down completely or just moving? For whatever it's worth, for MOTs I've had good recent experience with The Test Centre in Deptford. They only do MOTs so they don't have any particular incentive to fail you and they usually have same day appointments. Open 7 days a week and late. https://www.thetestcentre.co.uk/our-test-centres/deptford-branch/ Obviously you would still need a "normal" garage to do servicing and repairs etc.
    • So what is the issue? You want compensation for the loss of value, or you want to expedite the matter?
    • No. What happened? I actually thought, considering it was what we used to call Guy Fawkes Day last night, the loud noises from  fireworks ended remarkably early. About 9pm? Maybe I just fell asleep and didn't hear any later ones. Do people actually burn Guys any more? Apart from at places like Lewes, where I believe they still have Bonfire Societies and burn effigies of various political figures etc.
    • The accompaniment to our "Christmas Pudding" aka Nothing-Whatever-Like-A- Christmas-Pudding last year  at The Cherry Tree was "brandy butter ice-cream." If it had ever been near any brandy, the brandy must have been waved in its direction from a very great distance. Same with butter. The ice cream tasted like bog standard "vanilla" from a catering tub. At least it did bear some resemblance to ice cream. Whereas the "Christmas Pudding" bore no resemblance whatever to any Christmas Pudding I have ever seen or tasted in my many  decades of seeing and tasting Christmas Puddings. Oh, and Cinzano Bianco. Bleurgh. My sister used to drink that. 🤢
