Hello all

We've just been offered a reception place for our daughter starting in September. We live quite a way away and I think only got in because they are having a bulge class this year.

It's very important to us that we are near potential school chums for after school playing etc, and so I was wondering whether anyone near us will be starting in Sept? We are on Rosenthorpe Road, just off Ivydale Rd.

Thanks all.

Zoe

Hi Zoe - although I can't help you with the school, I have a 5 year old daughter and we live one road over. So if you fancy a playdate or visit to playground let me know.

Just out of curiosity how did you settle on Horniman school seeing as Ivydale is so close by? I agonised quite a bit about sending mine there (she started in January) but so far so good.

Hi there,

We are quite away away from the school as well - Henslowe Rd but are thrilled to get Horniman (did you hear that the early years just got outstanding in the ofsted report!) If you fancy a play date sometime then there are a few of us that are catching up a couple of times before September - if you look for Horniman thread you should find Becca's post - we aren't around for the first one but will hopefully do one at mine soon after. Stay in touch and maybe see you then.

    • Two wrongs don't make a right. Labour ran on a manifesto of "we aren't like them" and "we are different" and"you can trust us/we will restore faith in politics". They are doing nothing to convince anyone that any of those promises are being met - they are letting everyone down. u-turning on everything and are fast-tracking the doomsday scenario of a Reform government. Even the runway on the "it's all the Tories fault" is running out. I dislike politicians because they cannot be trusted and Rayner just highlighted that with ribbons on. She should have been so careful after the focus on the electoral roll issues she had with the house in Ashton-under-Lyne and then under a year later this comes up. Clearly the advice she took included a recommendation to take proper advice that she failed to do - that's just daft and the most galling thing is that she didn't just resign when this came up - she tried to spin out of it but must have known she was toast. Trust is fast being eroded. I desperately want Labour and Starmer to fix this because the alternative it too scary to think about but the way things are going they are fast-tracking Farage into No.10. Labour are letting us all down.
    • Same can be said for the current and prior governments
    • Good afternoon, We are looking for a gardener to tidy up our climbing rose. It is very high, so the work will require someone with a tall ladder. can you please recommend anyone?  thanks s
    • So you are also old enough to remember the Heath Out protest by the TUC when unemployment hit 1 million? We all have selective memories, this thread is no different. Please give me a list of the Labour sleaze. And compare it to the Tories.  There are a few of you who appear to have a long term dislike of Labour, so all this is a gift.
