Seabag
I've lived with it for about 20+ years, it's not going away.It wanes and peaks at different times, but it's always there. And being there means you cant fight it, so you have to learn to live with it.I've a few observations and strategies. Background sound can distract, and tension can exasperate it. But I now carry around many pairs of the little blue silicon swim earplugs from Boots. And every now and then I retreat from the outside sounds and reboot with 10 mins of isolation wearing these. I can still chat, but it cuts out the background chatter, specially in busy places. And once i'm in the place that's less hectic, I take them out and enjoy the clarity and reduction in the tinitus. It works for me. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/178588-tinnitus/#findComment-1208902 Share on other sites
intexasatthe moment
That's interesting Seabag . Isn't the tinnitus worse with the ear plugs in ? It's common isn't it for it be worse when things are quiet ,hence the background noise treatment .I have tinnitus .I hate it sometimes . OutOfFocus
I find it difficult to quantify how often I have it. Asking question makes you aware of it!I think it is the transition from loud to soft that brings it on. But once i am aware of it putting head ir earphones makes me feel i am fighting it. A change of scene hrlos which is difficult if you are say queueing for something.
