Hi

I have a Sony HDD handycam and it's telling me the memory is full. I have never transferred any footage off it onto disc anything as I didn't know how, don't seem to have the box with any leads in etc . I know not having any backup is madness anyway as there is 3 years' worth of my daughter and son on there so I really need to get it backed up.

So...Firstly if I don't appear to have any leads does anyone know what type of lead I need ?

Also where is the best place to store the footage ?I'd love to be able to watch it on the TV (so DVD I guess) but is this the best way ?Or is it best saved on a computer ? (or both ?) I have an external hard drive with stuff from my recently written off computer sitting in the lounge - can you store footage on there ? (is still in box - yes I am a procrastinating technophobic)

I am missing out on capturing lots of lovely things at the mo so want to get this sorted now so if anyone has any advice I would really really appreciate it.

Thanks

Assuming nothing much has changed in the last 3 years (i bought mine about 6 months ago) then you need a usb cable.

One side will be mini usb (almost certainly type B ) plugging into the camcorder then the bit that goes in your PC will be a usb type A (the standard PC input these days).

This won't be enough however as you'll need the drivers and software (unless you put the disc in and did the necessaries when you first bought it).

If you can't find the installation disc anywhere then you'll have to download them from the sony site.

Select your model etc and follow the instructions

    • I hadn't looked at the actual posts on Instagram. That's sad, then. The shop opening hours are still shown at the top of the page. I  guess changing them wasn't uppermost in her mind under the circumstances.
    • I want to recommend the kitchen fitters Top Marx kitchens. They were excellent from the communication, the planning and the fitting. John did a fantastic job of of fitting and worked around and solved many of the issues we had with Ikea who we purchased from. John gave lots of helpful advice and support. We would definitely use them again for any kitchen work. I have added before and after photos.
