Update: I saw the GP this morning and she is arranging a referral, but the soonest appointment is in a month!!!! I cannot believe a simple test cannot be arranged quicker or even to be done in the surgery they have simple patches to stick on the back these days, a month for a 4/5 month old is like 25% of your lifetime just waiting to get some food...am I being a difficult customer to the very efficient NHS. How do private referrals work? Any advice?
The easiest way is to ask your gp to write a private referral letter. They may be able to recommend a paediatric allergy specialist or otherwise you could find one yourself. You can self refer but some private specialists won't see people without a gp referral- I suppose it acts as a form of screening. Do you know where you've been referred to? Although your gp has said a month you may find that the appointment comes sooner than that particularly if you make yourself known to the appointment clerk.

My GP was great , he wrote me a prescription for non dairy formula whilst we wait on our hospital appointment but my son refused to take the formula so I have just continued with breastfeeding. Never ever intended to feed longer than a few months but he has allergies , my breast milk is the best thing for him so as tiring and hard as it is, I just tell myself it won't be for much longer!

My son also has allergies to nuts and some fruits. You will pretty much know the allergies due to hives or poos etc, o tend to every few months test a bit on his face to see if he reacts. Hope you get it sorted soon.

thanks, I think I need a gp referral to be able to get the insurance to cover the cost, or some of it.

but if it's not too expensive I guess I could just go myself. The gp said she's trying to find something but King's is definitely a month's wait. they now have that choose and book system too, but I tried that with my other daughter (pneumonia follow up) and it was 5 weeks wait to go to an other hospital in tooting....

I spent the day between GP and Kings yesterday, luckily and after much insisting on the pediatrician, we managed to get blood samples taken and the tests will be carried out. they could not tell me when the results will be ready but at least we just have to wait and see now, Hopefully not too long before I know the results. thanks for all the tips!
my son is allergic to cows milk, but is also allergic to goats milk also, its the protein in foods where he is concerned. I think perhaps Lou Lou your blood tests will hopefully show if your child is allergic to goats milk also. May be best to wait until your results come before testing anything. Allergies apparently can worsen if you keep consuming the harmful foods. I have been recommended to a specialist who apparently has 'cured' an allergic child. I will let you know details if you are interested. My son has been going for allergy tests for 3 years no, not much change, so I am tempted to try this specialist, but my guess is he doesn't come cheap.
I started slowly weaning her yesterday and she was chewing away, she seems ready for it but I am reluctant to try anything that may cause a reaction before I get the results hopefully soon. she is so hungry I can tell, and although I am eating very well :) she is not satisfied with my milk only. anyway, I may resort to private doctors if insurance covers some of the cost, it must be really expensive.

I prob would be a bit cautious with gluten or oats then, as well as dairy

And avoid tomatoes

There has been a bit of debate about the best time to intrOduce gluten but I think the latest is still 6m plus and while still bf

In your case it makes sense to wait till after allergy testing

Initial solids are not particularly calorific though

Avocado maybe might be good if you feel she is hungry

    • With fibre you are paying for the speed, which is the number, yours is 300 so if you did a lot of gaming, for example, you would want the fastest possible.  If it's just office work or maybe streaming on Netflix you likely won't need as fast, but, if there are a lot of people in your house all doing their own thing on different devices, then faster speeds are better.  I don't rely on my Wi-Fi much other than when I am using my mobile.  I use Ethernet cables to connect up everything, I Have one cable running from my router, along the skirtings and through a hole I drilled in the wall to another room.  I have attached the plusnet speed guide which gives you an idea of how it works.
    • I'd reread what you posted and try to summarise.  It just comes across as a rant.
    • Just shows, to me, once proud to be a citizen of UK.. now.. well if we pay/contribute to services - nhs, police, fire etc and folk who have made this there home - no matter what creed or culture.. for the love c of God, can someone  please explain to me.. how we have working royals who like them or not, have tried and continue to actually support and make a change and then we have Andrew.. who just destroys everything.. not just him, or royalty but his own children..  I had great admiration for The Queen - and respect.. as have a huge number of people.. but.. these old traditions where gosh.. live rent free and can’t get chucked out until I believe 2070? From what I scanned..well he has and continues to have it all.. has to go thru what old rules? Etc.  doubt very much he has even kept the upkeep maintenance up on his abode.. and do the shite keeps on pulling up.. What has Andrew done for UK or for that matter since he was 20?? Do please tell me       Totally off topic, before anyone jumps down my throat.. I just do not get how anyone is proud to be British at this point in time. Whoever is in power, seems to be able to help themselves to the public purse with no redress at all - Covid is a great example of lining of pockets.. Millions  given to Rowanda, so one is led to believe, to help with refugee problem and one can’t get a plane load off!  I simply do not get it at all. Use of food banks in UK growing yearly, homeless as well, nhs, police, fire service etc all on their knees..
    • Have applied the green roof at a number of properties and no issues you are concerned about detected. Have issues with cats defecating in the vicinity, however, they are not selecting the green roof specifically. Use decent compost, slow release fertiliser specific for green roofs, and lay it methodically not leaving blank patches. It looks amazing when cared for and adds value.
