disposable panties - so in those first few days of blood and yuk you don't have to consider stains/washing - just rip and bin. Hurrah!

Best tip a friend gave me were those supermarket boxes of mini bakery flapjacks. Lifesaver. When utterly exhausted, lightheaded and feeling a bit sick, they were the only things I wanted to eat and were great for getting rid of the shakes.

No to disposable panties . . . I think the cheap ones at primark cost about the same and make you feel a little more human!

On the food subject mr jb brought me in croissants and pain au chocolat everyday from the blackbird bakery (I was induced and had a c section) well recommended. Much better than the horrid trolley brekkie.

Agree with Jollybaby - I bought a couple of packs of basic Primark black pants, and they were much better than disposables.

In retrospect, I wish I had taken a baby sling in the hospital bag. I was only in one night, but I didn't want to leave my baby in that plastic hospital babycot every time I had to get up to go to the toilet.

Also, reading between the lines from something my midwife said, if you're feeling well and not waiting for a 'script from the consultant etc, you can discharge yourself. Basically you just leave. It's a hospital, not a prison. I waited about an hour for my discharge. It seemed like forever!
