As I write this the snow is not actually falling, but it's not melting either. Never fear, Spring is near. We are promised a balmy 5 degrees Centigrade on Saturday. So time to dust the bike off and head for the Cafe (now the Dulwich Clock Cafe, ex Pavilion cafe) in the middle of Dulwich Park (SE21 7EA) for the next Southwark Healthy Ride.

The ride starts at 10am from outside the Cafe and finishes at 12 noon in the same place. The route will be Dulwich to Clapham Common which is an easy ride avoiding any big hills. It goes out via Herne Hill Velodrome, Brockwell Park and Brixton Windmill. There will be a brief stop at cafe near Bandstand on Clapham Common for everyone to warm up and go to the loo. Then return via Brockwell Park and Bel Air Park.

The route map at https://goo.gl/gcbI5s. These rides are run by Bruce Lynn on behalf of Southwark Cyclists which is the borough branch of the London Cycling Campaign. The LCC campaigns for more, safer cycling in London which (from a cyclists POV) can only be described as a good cause.

We also run Dr Bikes and Bike Taxis. Full info here: https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/bike-taxi-underway/. Everything we do is free and open to all. Everyone welcome. Queries: text Bruce on 07729 279 945

The announcement that this ride is cancelled will surprise very few.

The yellow weather warning has now extended to 11am tomorrow, so we are reluctantly cancelling the Dulwich ride. Hopefully by the 10th and our next ride (Canada Water start) the weather will have improved. So wrap up warm and keep safe for now.

    • I would leave London, or at a push move back to north London. In SE London if you want to get away in a car you are trapped, always an hour to go the first 10 miles, chugging up to the M4 or round the south circular, which is really just a line someone drew connecting a load of roads. and I know there are trains but first you have to get to those mainline stations, unless you only want to leave London to go to Kent. which I don't.
    • It was you who  made it personal in the first place,  Jazzer. You said you didn't feel safe in the streets,  and you said you didn't go to Central London because you didn't feel safe there. So are you now saying that wasn't "personal"? "Fire from the hip." Another interesting choice of words 🙄 I'm not "demanding" anything! I asked you some perfectly reasonable questions in  response to your own statements. None of which you have answered. Never mind. It seems to be pointless having a discussion with you. It's long past my bedtime. I'm going to turn on my sleep app  and go to sleep 😴💤
    • Hi Forumites, This afternoon someone in a dark blue/black saloon car collided with my parked car on Thompson Road, SE22 9JR. I have a neighbour’s doorbell cam footage of the collision at 14:30 19/09/2025 but am unable to identify the registration plate. If anyone has footage of a car travelling down Thompson Road towards Crystal Palace Road at that time please PM me. Of course if the Perp would like to confess they can also PM me. Thankyou.
