breadcrum45
Black and white male probably only a year or 2 old.Keeps hanging around and now won?t leave. Can?t let him in as I have cats of my own and am not able to get him to vets to check for chip.Been hanging around acre drive for a few weeks. He seems very stressed and is vocal with really long whiskers. He seems lost or stray. Do you know who he belongs to? It?s very cold out and I?m worried about him. Angelina
If you can get him, bring him in - and put him in another room. Probably locked out/ lost/ abandoned. He'll freeze outside Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/184334-male-black-and-white-unneutered-cat-found/#findComment-1225163 Share on other sites
Blah Blah
Unnutered male cats are vocal during mating season, so it could be that he has got lost on the scent of a female (also common for unneutered males to get lost because of this). Give Celia Hammond a call. They may come out and check him for a chip. breadcrum45
Hi yes that?s him. It?s definitely a boy.He won?t accept any dried food, didn?t turn his nose up at steak the other day.He hangs around acre drive with my cat that looks very similar to him and a big fluffy tabby. We don?t see as much of him as we used to and it?s usually early mornings or early evenings.Haven?t been able to take him for a chip check and I assume he is a stray. If I do see him when the vets are open I will grab him and take him to the vets.Very friendly and eager to get indoors until be cones face to face with my female cat as she hates other cats. Gesine
Hi The cat belongs to my neighbour on Crystal Palace Rd and is called Riley. He isn?t well looked after and is often left to his own devices for periods of time, however, he gets fed when he is around. A big ginger tom is challenging him on his territory here, so I?m seeing him less and less. Blah Blah
If he is unneutered, he will get into fights. And he may well need help with fleas too. Could anyone chat with the owner and help to get him neutered at least? He will be a much happier cat for it. singalto
It doesn?t sound as though he is well looked after so might do better by being rehomed.. breadcrum45
The problem with this cat (riley) is he doesn?t know how to respond to other cats, his first reaction is to bite the other cats neck, he is gentil and my cat is OK with him, but the ginger cat is not. Seen a huge fight with them recently. The ginger cat doesn?t seem to bother with my cat, so I guess it?s a male dominance thing. My cat has been neutered and is very good with others. If he was neutered. He isn?t even sure how to react to humans he?s very jumpy when stroked but will let you pick him up without a struggle. Could you not speak to owner about neutering him? Is his owner elderly or need support then Celia Hammond should be able to help. Instead of posting it on the forum, why not simply come and speak to us about Riley. I am extremely upset that you feel the need to talk about this with strangers who have nothing to do with the situation. Riley has had flea treatment put on him 4 days ago so PLEASE DO NOT PUT ANYMORE ON HIM!!!!! We have had him for 6 years and chosen not to get him neutered as he is not an aggressive cat, he simply comes and goes as he pleases, i do not wish to lock him in at night and cause him stress, and HE IS WELL FED. Gesine
No offence was intended by what I posted. I was responding to other people?s concerns on here and trying to reassure them that he is not a stray and that he has an owner. I have spoken to you a couple of times about him in the past. Happy to discuss this elsewhere. The reason I came on here in the first place is because of my concerns over the ginger cat who has injured our cat and another resident?s cat recently. It seems other people have been having issues too, and I?m not sure what ? if anything ? to do. gerty
I have 3 cats. when Riley visits, they ignore him and he ignores them. I have stroked him and given him a bit of a combing until he says otherwise. If he visits, fine. I will keep an eye out for him. Be a responsible cat owner and get your cat neutered. Here's some other reasons why he should be neutered: -Reduced fighting and associated injuriesReduction of ?Tom cat odour?Decreased sprayingPrevents roaming, as they will generally not sense female pheromonesPrevents unwanted littersNot to mention the spread of FIV and also the CAT KILLER is out there!!! singalto
Mands, I totally agree. I had someone else?s entire Tom cat come into MY house and spray in my kitchen. My cats have always been neutered so I was really annoyed about the other cat. He disappeared after a while. Delainie
Here here Mands, also their cat may not be a fighter however any other roaming uncastrated Tom will most certainly be inclined to attack him and possibly pass on fiv , cat leakemia , and possibly serious injuries too.
