Hiya Im not too sure what they are called but I need childcare for about 2 weeks during the summer holidays. I am looking for some sort of play group summer scheme thing.

Any recommendations? I would like something fun for dd but with plenty of adult supervision as she is only 4years old. :)

Hello,

I am going to be running a drama based play scheme on a Monday and Tuesday over the whole of the summer holidays. I will be doing this in a fantastic space at the back of the 'Herne Tavern' just near Peckham Rye. I am looking for another location for the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday but I would like to establish whether or not there is a demand for this type of scheme in the area for the whole week.

I am a qualified teacher currently working at Dulwich College and have taught drama before as part of a children's youth theatre company.I have experience as a Children's Explainer' having working at 'The London Science Museum' for nearly two years and I have also been a nanny.

I am going to start by offering two drop in sessions that run from 10 till 12 o'clock and 1pm until 3pm. The sessions would be 2 hours long and at a rate of ?10. Each session focuses on bringing a popular children's story to life through the medium of dance, drama and art. At the end of each session the child will take away a piece of art work and a little poem or song. Ideally, I would like parents to sign their children up for a minimum of 4 sessions morning or afternoon. Hopefully, I will be running this five days a week so any child can attend everyday morning or afternoon. Parents or carers will be invited to stay for the first 15 mins to help settle their child and listen to the story but after that they are free to go and enjoy a leisurely walk, do some shopping or, perhaps, meet a friend for lunch in 'The Herne'.

In the future, I hope to run a weekly holiday scheme that runs all day for children so they can attend for four weeks of the summer holidays if they would like to. The age range I will cater for are Reception to Year 2 aged children (4-7 years).

What I would like to know is:

1.What are you as parents or carers looking for this summer in the way of childcare/play schemes?

2.Do my hours suit your needs or do you need something earlier or later?

3.Does anyone know of any premises suitable for this type of thing in the area available over July and August for a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday?

4 Would people be interested in this running on a Saturday morning from 10 till 1pm in term time?

5. Does my price seem reasonable considering there would only be 10 children in the class with 2 qualified adults delivering a unique story telling and art/drama based workshop?

Please email me at [email protected] if you can help answer any of the above questions or you are interested in signing up your child for four sessions based at 'The Herne' on a Monday or Tuesday from 10 till 12 o'clock or 1pm to 3pm.

I look forward to receiving some feedback so I can begin to offer a high quality and valuable childcare based service in the local area. I want it to meet your needs so I need to hear form you!

Thanks if you have read this far and are going to help me in this quest!

    • Thanks for your feedback - we always appreciate hearing from members about their experience. The pool temperature at JAGS Sports Club is maintained at 29oC, in line with industry guidelines for mixed-use pools.  This temperature has been designed to balance comfort for lane swimmers and families. Air temperature is also monitored regularly to ensure a comfortable environment for swimmers, spectators and staff. The shower Temperature Mixing Valves (TMVs) were changed in December to improve consistency, and we hope this has made a noticeable difference. If you would like to discuss your experience in more detail, please contact us directly at [email protected] or 020 8613 6500 and we'll be really happy to help.
    • One wonders if he would have defected if he had, ahem, held on to the leadership of Southwark and whether he felt that "Labour are no longer the vehicle for social justice" during his leadership election........my how quickly things change in the thoughts of a politician 😉 I think this sums things up quite nicely: A senior Southwark Labour spokesperson hit back: “Local residents can draw their own conclusions about Cllr McAsh’s swift move from Labour leadership hopeful to the Green Party, after he didn’t get his own way. While he’s thinking about his own career, Southwark Labour are delivering for residents.” One wonders if he will stand as a Green candidate in Goose Green.
    • No doubt if he determines to stand for a ward he will enlighten us - at least his track record is one of using this site to communicate (inter alia). I would suspect that (1) his personal views on traffic will have remained consistent but that (2) his views on local democracy and proper consultation will have as well.
    • Yes, but I want to know where he stands on all this stuff now. My feeling is it won't be any different from Labour?
