Spring gardens talk ? Troy Scott Smith on ?Sissinghurst ? revitalising Vita?, Thursday 22nd March

This year?s Dulwish Society Spring Talk will be given by Troy Scott Smith, the Head Gardener at Sissinghurst Castle Garden.

Troy will tell us about the 7-year project that he and his team are carrying out to revitalise the gardens to reflect Vita Sackville West?s vision for Sissinghurst ? a celebration of beauty, romance, intimacy and emotion. The talk is in the Lecture Theatre, Alleyn?s School, Townley Road, SE22 8SU at 7.30pm on Thursday 22nd March, with the opportunity to meet Troy after the talk over a glass of wine.

Tickets are ?10 each (including a glass of wine) and can be purchased on the Eventbrite website (www.eventbrite.co.uk, search ?Dulwich Society?) or from Jeremy Prescott, 142 Court Lane, London SE21 7EB (cheques payable to ?The Dulwich Society? and an SAE please). Non-members of the Dulwich Society are welcome.

  One time Sainsbury's delivered 6 bags of apples instead of 6 single apples which I couldn't possibly get through. I phoned Pecan in Peckham to ask if they would accept them despite their website stating no fresh foods. I must have phoned at just the right time as they were happy to accept them. Sainsburys gave me a refund so the donation was courtesy of them. Or you could experiment with all kinds of apple recipes and write a blog about it

  There's a food bank off Dog Kennel Hill. Albrighton Community Fridge. https://www.albrightoncommunityfridge.org/ I'm sure they would welcome them, but maybe check first? Drop off seven days a week 9 - 5. Be warned if you are going by car, parking can be very difficult, easiest if there are two of you so one person can take the food in while the other can move the car if necessary.

  Food banks for sure and what about approaching these schools in area that run summer camps - although having said that with health and safety being so strict might not allow it - crazy really. Can’t remember name of church but was one in Peckham that from memory did a community meal a couple of times a week. Now they for sure would take them and probably Kingswood House as well.
