Hi East Dulwich,

My apologies as a newcomer if I'm posting in the wrong section of the Forum.

I'd though like to let you know that we are opening a Pop Up Gallery 7 Lordship Lane, starting tomorrow 17 March and runs until 13 May 2018.

We offer a platform to local emerging artists.

Please come and say 'hi', we are looking forward to meeting the locals.

My partner and I went to the JP Art Gallery pop up today - in the old Green Cuisine Cookshop on Lordship Lane.

Really exciting to see such a large space full of great work. We need more shops like this in ED!

Really exciting work by some interesting and reputable artists.

We particularly like the work by Victoria Kiff. Beautifully rendered portraits in a very original style.

The gallery is only here until 13th May and we highly recommend that you check it out.

Vic :)

    • Who was Diana Rayworth, when 'resting from acting'. Her successful career was very sadly cut short following a devastating accident.
    • thanks Jenijenjen and all - yes, i remember walking or taking the bus from the elephant (where i was working) to Camberwell to get there.  I think Tim - who's still at Franklin's -  was there in those days, and the woman who ran the cafe!  Other food places that i remember fondly are the ones in Neal's Yard (with the Hunkin sculpture that you could put a coin in ) and the basement lunch place at the Tottenham Court Road junction with Hanway Street...
    • Did you try the emergency number posted above? It mentions lift breakdowns over the festive period outside the advertised  times. Hope you got it sorted x
    • People working in shops should not be "attempting to do the bill in their head." Nor if questioned should they be  trying to "get to an agreeable number." They should be actually (not trying to) getting to the correct number. I'm afraid in many cases it is clearly more than incorrect arithmetic. One New Year's Eve in a restaurant (not in East Dulwich but quite near it) two of us were charged for thirty poppadoms. We were quite merry when the bill came, but not so merry as to not notice something amiss. Unfortunately we have had similar things happen in a well established East Dulwich restaurant we no longer use. There is also a shop in East Dulwich which is open late at night. It used not to display prices on its goods (that may have changed). On querying the bill, we several times found a mistake had been made. Once we were charged twice for the same goods. There is a limit to how many times you can accept a "mistake".  There is also a limit to how many times you can accept the "friendly" sweet talking after it.
