Hi,

Any other parents who were at the introduction meeting on 14th July for new students joining Heber Primary this fall

The teachers mentioned the start date for new students joining reception in September - but I didn't write it down! Anyone else who was there - could you remind me?

Was it 7th September for kids who had not been at the nursery previously, and 14th September for kids who had been at nursery?

Thanks v much

Claire

Hi,

Have just dug out my letter and it says:

All children NOT from heber nursery will start Wednesday 7 Sept - Friday 9 September; start of day 8:55am up to 12 noon

All children from Heber nursery will start on Monday 12 Sept - Friday 16 September; start of day 8:55am to 1.00pm

All children will stay for lunch from 12 Sept and to be collected at 1.00pm

From Monday 19th September all children will be full tim, starting school at 8:55am. The school day ends at 3.20pm.

Hope that helps, see you at the school gates!

Thanks very much

Now I am worried about why I haven't got my letter!

I got a place after being on waiting list

Heber seemed a little confused about it, although I have confirmation from Southwark, and Southwark have also emailed Heber to confirm this, so it should all be clear, and yet we still don't know which class we will be in, and now haven't got this letter confirming start dates etc. Grr.

I hope I don't have any awkward situations in September when we start.

I assume the school office is closed now for holidays, so nothing I can do but wait until it reopens on the 5th.

Anyways, see you all in September, all being well!

    • Hi Sue, they were not local solicitors. Andrea’s was based in Wales and the other firms involved were large nationwide conveyancing companies (rather than conventional high street solicitors). I’m happy to advise clients and buyers privately on what I believe to be their shortcomings but I don’t think doing so in public on the forum would be appropriate, particularly as they are not locally based. My general advice would always be to steer clear of the big conveyancing companies as they are, in my experience, notoriously difficult to contact when the need arises and the case handler is often not a fully qualified solicitor and so issues have to be referred upwards to “technical teams” internally, which was part of the problem in Andrea’s chain. • A slightly vulnerable but hopeful post… Hi everyone, I’m a guy in my mid-thirties who’s recently moved back to London and East Dulwich (I previously lived here for many years before, so I know the area well). But if I’m honest, I’ve found the return a little tough. Most of my close friends have moved out of London to start families — totally understandable — but it’s left me feeling a bit adrift and not quite sure how to make new connections again. Work has taken up a huge chunk of my life in recent years, and I’ve definitely let hobbies, interests and a proper social life fall by the wayside. I feel like I went from a fun social life in my 20’s to suddenly blinking and realising things had gone a bit er…quiet. So, I’m trying to redress the balance a bit — mainly so myself and my partner don’t murder each other 😂, and just to meet some new local faces. I was wondering: is anyone else in a similar boat? And would there be any interest in starting a relaxed, low-key local social group? Could be a casual pub meet, sports, park hangouts, live comedy nights — open to ideas!  I’m happy to do the organising/admin side of things — just wanted to put it out there and see if there’s any appetite. I’ll gauge interest and take it from there.  If you’d prefer not to reply publicly, feel free to drop me a DM.  Cheers all! 👋
    • It's Inner London. You could move somewhere else?
