Hello

We are a fun and friendly family looking for someone to come with us on a trip to France to look after my 3 month old baby, Jack. There will be 10 of us in total (including my 15mth old niece and her nanny, Mariya).

We fly from Gatwick to Nice on Thursday 3 May and return on Tuesday 8 May and will be spending 4 days and 5 nights at this lovely hotel situated in the town of Mougins near Cannes:

What we would provide:

- All travel costs including return British Airways flights from Gatwick to Nice

- All accommodation costs at the following 5* hotel: https://www.lemascandille.com/fr/

- All meals during the trip

- One full day (Mon 7) and all afternoons to yourself at the hotel / to go into town or visit Cannes

What we would ask from you:

- Mornings (other than the Monday) - Looking after Jack - some of the time will be spent looking after him on your own (so we can grab a lie-in!) and some of it with us e.g. by the pool etc.

- Evenings - helping to feed, bath and put Jack to bed between 5.45-7pm. Then babysitting Jack until after dinner (10.30ish) - which hopefully just means enjoying room service and tv while he sleeps!

- Being an extra pair of hands during travel.

Experience looking after young babies would obviously be preferable but we are open to people who don't have this experience but who are responsible, kind and enthusiastic.

We live between Peckham Rye and Denmark Hill (10 mins walk from each station) and would like to meet before going on the trip.

We would prefer to structure things as described above but we would also be open to payment in return for less time off during the trip.

Thanks!

Hello,

I was wondering the same as the user above, can you clarify whether nanny would be paid for the hours she works eg morning and evening.

When travelling with a family, accomodation/food expenses are always paid for by the family so this is not a bonus, payment for the hours worked regardless of free time during the day is surely without question.

    • Not sure what you mean by "involved with firework enjoyment"? I'm all for others enjoying themselves, and I like fireworks, but if they were limited to public displays then people could still enjoy them? Having said that, I see that tickets for the London New Year fireworks start at £20 (Dawson's Heights it is,  then!) The fireworks in Brockwell Park used to be free. I don't know why those don't happen any more?
    • Really interesting discussion here. It's difficult to respect the views of people who support Farage, Trump, Musk etc. Why should we, when their views are deplorable. But then that exact 'deplorable' label, as we know, is counterproductive and drives people to double down / switch off to more progressive views. How do you actually help change minds? We're currently spiralling into dark places culturally and politically imo. The amount of open racism, even amongst front line politicians here and in the US is astounding to me. Feels like we're going backwards. The influence of social media and the tech billionaires / bros, is a powerful and largely malignant one. There was an enlightening (and frightening) bit of journalism by Sky this week about Musk's influence on British politics. He has a strange obsession with the UK and London in particular (as do many on the US right wing): https://news.sky.com/story/the-x-effect-how-elon-musk-is-boosting-the-british-right-13464487
    • Looking for any tickets to the Dulwich Hamlets game against St Albans today!
    • I'm going to Paris with friends, staying in the 3rd arrondissement. I used to go a lot but that was ages ago so wondered if anyone has any 'insider tips'? We are interested in small art galleries, independent shops, good value cafes and restaurants that may not feature in all the many online articles or guides, thanks!
