Looking for a good cattery?

Hi! Sorry if this is already on the forum somewhere, but I am looking for a cattery for my old lady, Elsie. Our usual spot "The Cattery" in Croydon is full and we need to find something asap.

If anyone has some good suggestions I would love to hear them. Looking for a 10-day getaway in the summer, which is obviously peak time.

FYI - I've already looked at Brockwell Vets service and don't like the setup (too dark, indoor etc).

Thanks in advance!

Have you considered Trusted Housesitters? Have a look at their website: https://www.trustedhousesitters.com/house-and-pet-sitters/

I came across them from an article in a Cats Protection magazine (November?) at the Neighbourhood Vet (ED branch) and I think EasyJet have recently teamed up with them. I am due to have my first housesitter in the summer.

It works on a membership fee basis for both pet owner & housesitter with no further charges. There are housesitters both based in London/UK as well as looking to visit from abroad, so it is possible to meet someone before you confirm a booking.

Might be worth having a look.

  • 2 weeks later...

We have 2 friends who we have used to pop into our cats on a daily basis. They have a cat flap and are not wanderers.

One of the friends charges for her time, but the other will not take any money. Both of them are given keys to the house.

What about a trusted neighbour who wishes to earn a few pounds?

    • Yup. At best I have people who detest Trump shrugging and saying something like “what ya gonna do?” Like that is any kind of answer what we gonna do is condemn, and watch out for same happening here - and watch out for all the handmaidens who would allow this to happen.  Apologists for Farage, Jenrick etc
    • There are plenty of Jewish people on these marches, who have every right to stand up and say not in our name. A Jewish bloc attends every single one: https://jfjfp.com/voices/jjp-at-the-gaza-demonstrations/ Jewish peoples lives are being made less safe by this war, as we recently saw in Manchester and in the clear increase in antisemitism. They want to see Peace, and this will only happen with justice for the Palestinians. Most have - within living memory - members of their families who have been murdered by an authoritarian regime. They know what they are seeing and why they are marching. Calling going on march 'indulging in Jew hatred' is just ridiculous. You've clearly never been on one. Engage your critical faculties and think about why these marches are being smeared, rather than spouting what the right wing press and home secretary tell you.
