Looking for a live in au pair to start end May/beginning June

Recommended Posts

Morning, my lovely au pair has just told me he is going off to America so I am sadly looking for a new au pair. He will be leaving us at the end of May so am looking for someone to start beginning of June ideally (unfortunately I am away the Bank holiday weekend). I am a single mum with two amazing boys (9 and 11) who go to the local schools (Bessemer and Charter). I have the boys 9 days out of every 14 so am looking for someone to get them up in the mornings (7am) on the days I have them and take Ben to school (starts at 9am) (Max goes on his own). I would also need pick ups on Monday, Tues, Thur and Fridays of the days I have them and to take them to the park or help with homework till 17.30. I work from home Tues-Thurs and go to the office Mondays and Fridays. Some flexibility needed for example on inset days or when children are sick.

During the summer holidays I would need a bit more help when I am working but am quite flexible. You would received 4 weeks paid holiday a year, ideally taken when we take ours but if not with enough notice for me to organise alternative childcare.

I would need someone to babysit 2-3 nights a week (very rarely would this be a weekend night) and to do minimal ironing (1hr a week). We have a cleaner but I would like someone to make sure the boys room is clean and tidy and clothes put away and beds changed regularly.

I have a lovely home near Dulwich hospital, the school is a 10 min walk or 5 min cycle and the station is a 7 min walk. You don't need to drive but need to have good English and a patient manner but be able to be firms with the boys. Non smoker required. You will have your own loft room complete with double bed, sofa, wifi, TV and your own shower room (unless we have guests staying which is very rare!)

I am looking for someone with previous au pair experience ideally, who is currently in the UK and can come for an interview. Salary upon request.

If you are interested or know someone please send me a message

Many thanks

Jacqui, Max and Ben

    • I’m not sure how many other people have experienced this; but both me and one of my friends have the same story. Around Crawthew Grove and Crystal Palace Road: I was followed by a large fox right on my heel. At first I didn’t notice because I had my headphones on, but then I noticed my shadow had an extra lump in it, funnily enough, it was a fox, very very close to my feet. Even if I sped up walking it just tried to get closer - it was quite frightening actually, it was quite clear that it wanted to nip me. I didn’t know what to do so, I started to reprimand the fox and walked slowly away from it, facing it - which it didn’t seem to like and backed off a bit. I then proceeded to speed-walk away.   Quite frankly, the whole situation was quite embarrassing and a little bit frightful as I’d never had a fox even come up to me. I’ve heard of particularly curious foxes that might come up to someone who beckons them, and maybe even bite that person, but I’ve never heard of a fox chasing someone. The amount of confidence that it had was incredible.    When it happened, I was on the way to see some friends, and once I had told one of them, she told me the same thing happened to her.  if anyone else knows anything about this bitey fox then let me know!
    • Another recommendation for Andy. I needed an old kitchen removed as an emergency. Andy came over quickly and did a fantastic job. I have used Andy a few times. He is punctual, helpful and always does an  excellent job.
