Dulwich Model Railway Show, James Allen's Girls School, Saturday 26th May 2018

Recommended Posts

You?re invited to make tracks to a model railway show in Dulwich on Saturday 26th May 2018.

The first one ever in Dulwich and there is a actual mainline railway bridge within the school grounds!

The event is being held from 10am to 4.30pm at James Allen's Girls School, 144 East Dulwich Grove, London, SE22 8TE

People are invited to make tracks to the model railway show to see up to 20 model railway layouts will be on show in a variety of scales from tiny z gauge to o gauge.

The exhibition is being supported by clubs and modellers from around London, Kent, Essex, Herts with layouts including:

?Rusbury Basin, a layout with a canal system integrated running steam and diesels.

?Midsummer End, a 1940s steam railway with model aircraft flying above.

?St Mellion, is a small village situated in East Cornwall - a little west of the River Tamar.

?Ville A La Campagne - a quaint model of a fictitious French town, which replicated the terminus of a German narrow gauge line.

There is something about model railways that retains a fascination for those of all ages from five to ninety and probably beyond.

Despite the attractions of other hi-tech past times, many people always find times to enjoy model trains in action and their will be plenty for visitors to see.

The exhibition will be an opportunity for people to enjoy nostalgia in miniature for others to learn about a new potential past time or simply appreciate the care taken to create a model railway.

We are extremely grateful to all the exhibitors who are taking part in the event, some whom are travelling long distances to attend.

    • I would leave London, or at a push move back to north London. In SE London if you want to get away in a car you are trapped, always an hour to go the first 10 miles, chugging up to the M4 or round the south circular, which is really just a line someone drew connecting a load of roads. and I know there are trains but first you have to get to those mainline stations, unless you only want to leave London to go to Kent. which I don't.
    • It was you who  made it personal in the first place,  Jazzer. You said you didn't feel safe in the streets,  and you said you didn't go to Central London because you didn't feel safe there. So are you now saying that wasn't "personal"? "Fire from the hip." Another interesting choice of words 🙄 I'm not "demanding" anything! I asked you some perfectly reasonable questions in  response to your own statements. None of which you have answered. Never mind. It seems to be pointless having a discussion with you. It's long past my bedtime. I'm going to turn on my sleep app  and go to sleep 😴💤
    • Hi Forumites, This afternoon someone in a dark blue/black saloon car collided with my parked car on Thompson Road, SE22 9JR. I have a neighbour’s doorbell cam footage of the collision at 14:30 19/09/2025 but am unable to identify the registration plate. If anyone has footage of a car travelling down Thompson Road towards Crystal Palace Road at that time please PM me. Of course if the Perp would like to confess they can also PM me. Thankyou.
