HelzBelz
Edited to update on availability & to add padron peppers...You say tomato, I say we need some space!Clearing the patio of surplus tomato plants. There are a couple of different varieties. Most (1 & 3) are grown from Heritage Seed Library (HSL) seed. HSL aims to conserve varieties that are not widely available so you're unlikely to pick these ones up at the garden centre. The plants are all around 30cm in height (from base to top of plant). Good root systems. Pop them into larger pots / the ground and they will grow at a crazy speed.1. Green Zebra - ?2 each - NOW GONE2. San Marzano - ?1.50 - NOW GONE3. Verna Orange and Cernetu - ?1.75 each - RESERVEDOh dear someone (me!) didn't label these very well so I have a batch of tomato plants which are a mix of Verna Orange and Cernetu. At this stage there's no way to tell. Verna Orange produces large oxheart fruits. Described as dense, meaty, sweet in flavour. Cernetu is a bit of a mystery. I purchased the seed at a Seedy Sunday event from the Heritage Seed Library stand but can find no information about it! I daresay I bought it because it sounded interesting so I can't imagine it will be a disappointment. 4. Padron pepper plants - ?1.50 to ?1.75 (the smaller plants would probably prefer a bit more growing-on under cover before going outside)Pimientos de Padron are the Spanish peppers that appear on tapas menus (fried in olive oil and served with salt flakes). They form really sturdy, branching plants and the chillies are usually picked quite small. Most will be mild but every now and then you'll get a hot one. Grow them larger if you want to increase your chances of feeling the burn! They grow well in this climate in a sunny spot. In a hot summer they grow especially well. It's not necessary to grow them under cover although we find we get a better harvest from plants grown in our plastic greenhouse.http://www.secretgardenclub.com/2013/09/some-like-it-hot-jalapeno-and-padron.htmlCollection from Forest Hill.Weekends and evening preferred. HelzBelz
I've updated the original post. All toms now gone or reserved.I have some padron pepper plants left and reduced prices a little (as really you need 4 or 5 plants to keep you in a good supply of peppers over the summer).I will be in East Dulwich this Saturday morning from 10-12 if collection from there suits you better than Forest Hill.
