I only found two vague references.

one from the mirror says hundreds of schools are banning red ink http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/top-stories/2008/12/27/teachers-banned-from-using-red-ink-because-it-upsets-pupils-115875-20997583/

One from the beeb found one primary school that was doing so http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/2688623.stm

Can find nothing about crosses not being used.

ANd quite SJ, see also solutioneer, going forward and any use of bandwidth that doesn't pertain to electronic data provision.

So for the third time, will you now eat humble pie?
    • It's firework season now up until early Jan 2026. Starting with celebrating the failure of terrorist Guy Fawkes on November 5th! BOOM!
    • Get used to it! 'major incidents' are a regular occurrence these days! some ignored by mainstream media.
