Like sex with an ugly man/woman... something you only consider after too much to drink and then no matter how attractive drink makes it appear it always disappoints and leaves one feeling rather sordid and with a nasty taste in ones mouth.

What a superficial oaf you are maxxi. Ugly?? Putting some labels on yourself there sir.

I'd have likened it to sex with a tory: dirty and wrong, a sound thrashing the MSG of the physical act of love. For those few, sweet, heady seconds, you believe yourself equals, there's nothing so very, very wrong with it really. And after all, no one need ever know.

But then, after the after-glow comes the realisation that you have debased yourself for the hydrogenated fat and massive salt intake of a moussaka that isn't even authentic (where are the bloody aubergines?) And you need to shower and brush your teeth.

Oh there's all kinds of ugly RosieH. The ugliness of dismissing a person purely for their political persuasion perhaps? This could possibly be a thread on its own - would you rather sleep with someone you found deeply unattractive or someone whose personal political beliefs were opposed to your own?

As for labelling myself, yes I remember the times I have been viewed as a half-eaten 'Happy Shopper Lasagne' on the morning after but that really is the point isn't it? When one has a bad enough itch thenappearance and politics are brushed aside in the name of a good scratch.

Well that'll learn me to abjure the use of a punctuation face. Was an attempt at humour.

I actually find tories to be more skilful than their lentil-munching labour counterparts with a riding crop and a pair of galoshes. It does present me with a terrible dichotomy, to be sure.

RosieH mea culpa.

But I too have found myself bewitched by someone who later turns out to have the ideology of a facist tortoise and you raise an interesting problem with which to wrangle. A 'skilled' tory or a lazy socialist idealist? (I was going to add or a boring neither-one-or-the-other LibDem but that would be predictably unfair and as a result of the coalition I'd like to think they've learned a few tricks).

Frankito I notice you don't quibble about my brand being 'Happy Shopper' whatever the dish itself. But maybe I am more on-trend than I thought...

I am constantly just getting a 'computer says no' response from Dulwich Leisure - quite how they think its okay to charge £42.40 per child without a service being given is beyond me! • Just to clarify, this isn't the same cherry as last year, it's in the corner by the path that runs down to the crossroads of FHR / Colyton / Dunstans. It hasn't been an issue previously because the perimeter wasn't as large... I'm sure it must have been noticed & flagged during the various planning meetings, walkabouts etc and there is an ecological resolution planned that will avoid any damage to the tree. After all, Gala pride themselves on their environmental stance, being "nestled in the park" and everything... 🤦
    • Those branches are going to get chopped...again. All of this shows the central paradox at the heart of Southwark's greening the streets policy. What is the good of planting trees in tarmac if you are simultaneously wrecking large sections of the park and stopping locals using the park? It just does not make sense. Cllr Catherine Rose should be made to answer for Gala conduct, if they are already flouting the terms of their agreement.
