hello, I have just stumbled upon this thread and would love to meet up - am I too late? (I'm east dulwich based). We have one little boy who's nearly three, and we won't have any more because of my ancient age, dodgy back, and all that kind of thing. All his peers are just starting to get brothers and sisters, and I am starting to (very mildly)freak out!

Hi-

Not too late or too old! :-) At worst this will be an excuse to get together for tea and cake with other mothers, and at at best our little group will grow to be a fun and supportive network.

One of the issues parents of only children may face is networking with other parents. For parents of an only child, then sometimes it can be harder to meet other parents too. So my hope this group will be as much about children making friends as parents making friends too. xx

You sound like me! I think this is a great idea Saffron, nice one.

Hello

first of all thank you Saffron for having us, it was lovely to meet you and your daughter, she is ever so cute.

Must add - for any one interested - Saffron is well cool ;-)

I would be keen to meet up again and in particular with mums who have a school age child maybe?

I will open up a separate tread but in the meantime if anyone is interested in setting up a small swimming group and get a private instructor I would like to hear.

My son loves the pools but he is not a natural swimmer I found that he benefitted much more from private lessons. Last year we had a 4 children group and he progressed much more than in a class were he would tend to shy away.

Hi all you lovely parents of singletons!

It's a gorgeous day!! Meeting at mine this afternoon for tea and cake and laughs. (If the weather keeps up this gorgeous sun, we can even shift up the park at the end of my road. If we all decide to do that, I'll leave a note on the Forum, and a note on my front door for any late comers to join us.)

    • https://www.letslinkuk.net/ I'm interested to know why the OP didn't find this sort of scheme to work, as I would have thought it was much harder to find someone to do a direct exchange with? Does anybody else have experience of a scheme like this? Happy to be persuaded!
    • I personally think is a great idea Bobbly and would love if there was a section for it. I wouldn't offer free gardening under the "for sale" section as I would expect something in exchange and wouldn't expect our cat being looked after for free under the "wanted" section, as an example.
    • Looking for used decking boards. Should be hardwood
    • I have fond memories of Govinda's I used to go there  back in the 90's (maybe earlier) for an affordable tasty lunch..I was wondering if its still around. Now I have to make a point of going there. Does anyone else remember a really affordable basement cafe run by the church in a street off of Golden Square? parallel to Regent Street? I also used to love the Vegetarian cafe on Neal Street in the basement (Neal Street Cafe?) and there was an inczredible inexpensive authentic Japanese resturant I use to go to with my Japanese friends (who introduced me to it) tucked away behind Long Acre where that brown brick modern building ('modern' I think it went up in the 90's!) now stands that fronts Long Acre and Neal Street..I think it was called Asakasa or something?
