Hi

I would like to start my own wormery, however, having looked on the website the cost of one (sans worms) is quite expensive.

Has anyone built one from scratch? My question to any who have, once you get all the raw materials, would it just have been just as cheap to buy one?

Thank you.

Jess

I have a wormery. I did think of building one as i'm fairly adept at that kind of thing however, I luckily found one of the Can-O-Worms type second-hand for ?10. It spent a further ?30 odd on 2kg of worms and coir etc.

The benefit of this can type is collecting the "worm tea" in the bottom tank. It's an amazingly powerful fertiliser,so strong you have to dilute it 1-3 parts water. It's made my tomato plants grow like crazy and produce a mass of fruit this season, which i'm very happy about.

So, if you can build one that collects the "tea" in a tank then great. If not keep an eye out for the C-o-W type as it's dead easy to set up.

Good luck.

    • Hey fellow cat owners! Was hoping that you would consider putting collars with bells on your outside cats? I’ve wee fledglings in a nest and at the moment I’m defending them against an orange and white dude (I call him Trump) and his nemesis, a lovely Tuxedo cat (I call Elon)… they are quite the double act in my back garden!!!! It would give the wee ones a bit of a better chance if a bell could announce their approach. And as a feline owner myself, I know cats will be cats, but every little helps even the odds. many thanks.
