Mattress removal

Any suggestions as to how I can get rid of a super king mattress (clean but old & hole-y)so heavy I can?t even get it downstairs? Thanks

NB council charges ?16 to collect up to 10 bulky items, so don?t pay over the odds

I have just passed the junction of Hansler and Fellbrigg roads and there are 2 mattresses in the front garden of a house with notices on them- one says Monday 5/11/18 and the other says SW and a reference number- so presumably the householder paid their ?16 and arranged removal for yesterday- and it DIDN'T happen! Kind of fills me with confidence- NOT!
