Link Age Southwark are looking for a New Chairperson for board of Trustees

If you are based locally and would be interested in becoming becoming Chairperson of board of trustees of a very successful local charity, Link Age Southwark has the perfect opportunity for you.

Link Age Southwark is an ambitious, vibrant local charity providing friendly volunteer support to over 600 isolated, older people in Southwark.

In 2018 they will have been working in Southwark for 25 years, reducing loneliness and isolation and helping older people maintain active lives within the community. Their fantastic volunteers support older people to thrive in later life, through:

? One-to-one befriending visits

? Activity groups with volunteer transport

? Practical support including light gardening and help with odd jobs

? Intergenerational work with local schools

Their services are free to all Southwark residents aged 60+, and we also offer specialist free support services for people of any age living with mild to moderate dementia. We are always looking for more volunteers to bring joy to the lives of older people.

    • Which Trump thread to choose.  But I’ll pick this one to say some of us were called hysterical for calling out Trump for what he is and what he would do. If we posted something like this a couple of years ago we would be laughed at as unserious   https://www.reuters.com/world/us/trump-calls-chicago-mayor-illinois-governor-be-jailed-2025-10-08/
    • As far as I am aware, the UK are not selling weapons to Russia and aren’t helping the Sudanese government to commit massacres. I also doubt that the Sudanese authorities claims that their army is “the most moral army in the world” and I also doubt that they are backed up by the majority of the Western world. This is why people are marching on Saturday, to reiterate that killing children is not ok and to show the world that they are not alone fighting against that evil fascist government, nothing more, nothing less. P.S: if you’re aware of any marches going on in London for the poor Sudanese people, I will gladly attend.
    • So what do you want to see happen in the site ? The developer has to make money so increasing social housing may not be financially viable and we 100% need more accommodation locally.  Also the quote that it will be used by people as second homes is a bit strange, I would have suspected that would be the opposite as people might look to the countryside for a second home, not a semi run down town centre. For future, can you attach files as PDFs not word documents as my firewall blocks Word downloads due to increased risk of carrying hidden payloads.
