I've noticed a fair few used car seats being sold in the forum. My understanding is that second hand car seats (like second hand helmets) should never be used as the purchaser has no idea how they've been treated and whether they're still safe. Also car seats have an expiry date which people often don't know to look for.

I wonder if car seat sales should be stopped on the forum or at least a prominent warning be provided on each thread?

Hi

Unfortunately we can't police the selling of legal items. Yes we could put a warning but we would have to put warnings about many things; cars, bikes, meeting buyers/sellers, how to make transactions, food, drink etc. but it would take away from the simplicity of the forum and I'm not sure of how much value a warning about car seats appearing on all adverts would add.

By all means feel free to drop a note on adverts yourself but at the moment it's not something we can do.

    • I once had some very grumpy buyers, I'd moved heaven and earth and compromised a little on price, was tempted just to tell them where to go and put it back on the market - I wanted to get rid but could hang on longer.  I bit my lip, and they sent me a very stroppy email which I deleted without reading. Ideally we'd get on with our buyers and sellers, always try to meet them, and you can often sort out issues directly.  Estate agents tend to not like you have the other parties details. I've generally had more problems with the ones I've not met. It can be stressful for both sides.  You often get an inkling whey you know that they may be awkward, and that includes going the other way with a last second increase in price when markets are moving upwards.  Again, bad karma!
