Privet Hedge in need of extreme measures

Recommended Posts

Hello I hope someone can help I have a privet hedge surrounding the front of our house which has become completely unruly and unmanageable.

I need it to be severely cut down and back, not just trimmed. More from a point of personal security rather than aesthetic reasons.

Thank you

Hello Cazz

I'm a Dulwich based gardener looking to expand my services locally.

I have been a professional gardener for over 10 years, I qualified in Horticulture and garden design. Gardening is more than an occupation to me, it's my way of life.

I have photographs of my work on instagram.com/alchemyhorticulture, gardens locally you can visit and many references from my existing clients.

I specialise in maintenance, overhaul and improvement. I have very strong plant identification and husbandry skills. Very happy to talk garden so please get in touch.

All the best

Hi there Cazz, did you get your hedge sorted and were you happy with the service? If so could you share please as I've got a small gardening job of weeding and tidying up which needs doing but I don't know who to get round. Thanks.

I do local gardening work in Dulwich and i can help you with your job. Take a look at some photos here. More photos available if needed

    • That explanation sounds highly unlikely!  Surely the "days of the week" plates must be a standard size. I know Royal Mail often appears incompetent, but it  couldn't be that stupid, surely. Was it 1 April?!

    • Southwark's recycling guidance says to put shredded paper in the blue bin in a paper envelope or "small box". I've got far too much of it for that  (confidential stuff going back decades) - thanks to the EDF member who kindly gave me a shredder! It would be a "massive box". I have barely started  the shredding, and I've already got an extremely large bagful.   I've read online that you can put it into  large clear plastic bags in the bin for paper,  provided you  clearly label it "shredded paper" and it is obvious what it is. Does anybody know if Southwark would accept it like that? Alternatively, can anyone make use of it for animal bedding or packaging material or adding to  compost?
    • I'm happy to report that some foxgloves are now looking great in my garden. The bees are loving them. Also managed to grow some corn poppies from seed. I've left some decaying logs in the corner so maybe there are some stag beetles there.
