Personal Memoir writing class

Recommended Posts

We all have a story to tell ? about our childhood, the place where we live, our travels, the trials of parenthood. Some of us have begun, others don?t know where to start, or aren?t convinced they can write - then find they can! The day is for those anywhere on this spectrum. It will offer ways to get ideas flowing, to reflect on details we may have forgotten, plus time to write with no distractions.

Formerly a life-planning consultant and counsellor, Maggie Smith is fascinated by the unexplored possibilities of ?ordinary? people?s lives. The author of three books on mid-life career change, she now concentrates on writing stories rooted in real lives and recently published a well-reviewed Memoir of her first three decades. Maggie has tutored writers groups for twenty years, including Forest Hill Library.

    • The current crimes from what I hear are phone theft from the person, car theft and tradesman vehicle/tools theft. Plus of course the overall increase in stabbings and shootings across London which are becoming normalised.
    • Whilst clearly 'a crime', I don't think this necessarily sits with the other things you have described. A tragic and awful incident certainly, and dreadfully traumatic to the victim, but not part of any 'crime wave' as such, I suspect. It's the sort of thing which, sadly, can happen anywhere (I, again, suspect).
    • Does anybody have a folding pasting table they no longer need? All the ones I've found online seem to have terrible reviews, mainly due to being unstable,  or else coming apart! I don't mind if it's grubby, I just want it to gesso wallpaper lining paper, for art not walls!
    • Massive thank you to Stephen. Painted our whole house - and got lots of other bits sorted, too. Nothing was too much trouble, everything looks great and all came in on quote. Fantastic. Liverpool fan, but don’t hold that against him. Will 100% use again.
