Hi all,

We currently do a nanny-share for 4 days a week and our 2-year old could start at Gumboots potentially just for Fridays. I have heard that nurseries normally recommend at least 2 days a week as 1 day a week makes it difficult for children to settle in at that age.

Does anyone have any experience (both positive and negative) you could share?

Many thanks in advance

Amy

Hello Amy. Our daughter changed from 2.5 days per week down to one due to me losing my job when she was 2 plus 3 months. For the first couple of months she would often be upset and clingy whilst there, but when she got a bit more grown up at 2.5 she 'decided' that she wasn't going to cry at nursery any more and she has been confident and happy there ever since.
My son (2.5) only goes to nursery one day a week and really loves it. He's been going to the same nursery since he was 6 months though and he went 3 days a week until he was about 21 months old. Obviously as he was already used to the nursery when he went down to one day a week, that has helped. I can imagine it will be a lot harder for a child who's new to nursery to settle.

    • I witnessed the Mini cooper going at about 100mph down LL towards Goose green, then it shot accross the roundabout a solitary police car a fair way behind..then this was followed by police cars going both ways sirens going. Anyone crossing the road would have been a gonner because the mini was ignoring red lights etc. No idea if they got them or what it was about but it was like something out of the Italian job.
    • What my friend saw yesterday wasn't a drill, as has been suggested. She's a met police officer, so I think she'd know the difference. I even checked the court circular - saddo that I am - and it wasn't for a royal. Still intrigued... Sounds like the mini today was a police chase?
    • There are lots of trees, shrubs, a pond and a large area of wild grass all of it which are habitat for a range of flora and fauna. Do you mean the common- that is mostly grass, some of it laid over an old car park? However, the festival won't use that bit, they prefer to be "nestled" within the park (more aesthetically pleasing for festival goers, who like to be 'at one with nature' while they enjoy the booming bass, and great marketing for the festival owners who can also use the plentiful trees as a sound barrier- it saves them forking out to mitigate the noise.
    • That's very rude. Care to expand, rather than having a go at malumbu?  You think this solicitor with five one star reviews (and most people with complaints won't bother writing reviews) is perfectly proficient, and all the delays, non use of email communications  etc are his clients' fault?
