Goose Green PTA was awarded a grant from the Dulwich Community Council to run a 'Maths, Magic and Mystery' workshop for families in the East Dulwich area. The idea is to help parents and children discover the fun and magic behind maths and the workshop will be highly interactive, involving children and parents alike. We are running the workshop on the evening of the 4th October, 6:30pm-7:30pm. It will be led by local author Rob Eastaway who wrote the bestselling 'Maths for Mums and Dads'. All children (from any school not just Goose Green) from Year 1 to Year 6 with their parents and carers are welcome! We'll have a creche for younger children and juice/biscuits will be provided.

You'll need to get a free ticket (we have limited spaces so the event needs to be ticketed) from the Goose Green Primary School office so drop by the office (entrance to the school on Tintagel Crescent) anytime from 8:30 - 4:30pm.

I should have mentioned that if you aren't sure where the school is or want to email the office to request tickets, this link takes you to the school's contact detail page on the school website.

Tomorrow is the last chance to get your free tickets to this evening - it's open to all families with primary school children. The PTA would like to give a BIG THANK you to Dulwich Community Council for their grant to enable us to put on this event that is open to all parents and children in the area. More information on the website http://www.goosegreenprimaryschool.org go to the PTA page to download the flyer.

What a great evening. Well done Goose Green PTA.

First of many maths magic tricks.....

Think of a number.

Double it.

Add ten.

Divide your answer by two.

Finally take away the number you 1st thought of.

And your answer will be....five! Maths magic for everyone.

Thanks so much James! And thanks to everyone who came along - it was GREAT to see such a mix of children and parents come along. It was a lovely evening with a full house. We've had a quick scan of the evaluation forms and they were overwhelming positive! We'll post a short summary report once we have had a more detailed look. Again thanks so much to the Dulwich Community Council who made this community event possible through their grant. Who would have thought maths could be so much fun?

    • Thanks Penguin. It could be a coincidence. But after years of road safety being on the local agenda they finally put the crossings in months before Dulwich Estates regain the lease on The Grove.   The Estate understands there is strong local interest in improving this area and we hope to be in a position to share some exciting updates in the near future. The temporary skatepark will remain unaffected. “Temporary skatepark” is telling.
    • Back to my earlier post about familiarity.  I was in Croydon this afternoon walking between the two main stations.  Didn't feel unsafe, but there were some 'interesting' characters on the street.  Not that any were bothered with me. Not a place I'd choose to go for a bit of a fun.  Although having said that West Croydon has some cracking restaurants and the wonderfully named Saints and Sinners bar, where I once went on a corporate do - not that I did many of these. Whoops just checked and it closed a few months ago. Back on track, I never went to the Castle as I felt it was a bit rough.  How wrong was I?  Only real pub left in the area.
    • Wow Sue! I was reading your post with interest as I’ve never really felt unsafe in London and I was born here. It was just your last paragraph that derailed me and totally changed the subject matter! So unnecessary.
