Bike train to central London and beyond July 18th

Recommended Posts

The Bike Train is a guided ride from Peckham Rye and Nunhead Stations to central London. We use segregated cycle lanes, parks and backstreets to keep riders safe all the time. The ride leaves Nunhead at 7.45am, swings by Peckham Rye station at 7.55am and reaches the Thames at 8.30am. We don't go fast. I'm in front and kindly friends reckon I do 8mph (twice walking speed).

Quietway 1 is still the route of choice. London's best in fact arguably its only good Quietway. It's only ten minutes of green route and backstreet from Peckham town centre. Come with us and we'll show you how the most risk-averse can get to central London,?feathers fully unruffled.

QW1 crosses all the approach roads to the Thames bridges ? starting with Tower Bridge, London Bridge, Southwark Bridge and finally Blackfriars. Riders can be taken to any one of them, take your pick and be taken on if you let us know in advance.

Any queries text me on 07842 640 207 or mail us on [email protected]. Everyone welcome. Return rides arranged on request. Most things arranged on request. Just ask. If this doesn't suit you but the idea of cycling to work does then think of trying our bike taxis which are a personalised, escorted ride to work.

All this stuff is organised by Southwark Cyclists. We are the borough branch of the London Cycling Campaign which campaigns for more, safer cycling in London. Everything we do is free and you don't have to join anything. Our website is here: https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk

    • Thanks for your feedback - we always appreciate hearing from members about their experience. The pool temperature at JAGS Sports Club is maintained at 29oC, in line with industry guidelines for mixed-use pools.  This temperature has been designed to balance comfort for lane swimmers and families. Air temperature is also monitored regularly to ensure a comfortable environment for swimmers, spectators and staff. The shower Temperature Mixing Valves (TMVs) were changed in December to improve consistency, and we hope this has made a noticeable difference. If you would like to discuss your experience in more detail, please contact us directly at [email protected] or 020 8613 6500 and we'll be really happy to help.
    • One wonders if he would have defected if he had, ahem, held on to the leadership of Southwark and whether he felt that "Labour are no longer the vehicle for social justice" during his leadership election........my how quickly things change in the thoughts of a politician 😉 I think this sums things up quite nicely: A senior Southwark Labour spokesperson hit back: “Local residents can draw their own conclusions about Cllr McAsh’s swift move from Labour leadership hopeful to the Green Party, after he didn’t get his own way. While he’s thinking about his own career, Southwark Labour are delivering for residents.” One wonders if he will stand as a Green candidate in Goose Green.
    • No doubt if he determines to stand for a ward he will enlighten us - at least his track record is one of using this site to communicate (inter alia). I would suspect that (1) his personal views on traffic will have remained consistent but that (2) his views on local democracy and proper consultation will have as well.
    • Yes, but I want to know where he stands on all this stuff now. My feeling is it won't be any different from Labour?
