East Dulwich Hotel

I've noticed that the east Dulwich hotel on Upland Road seems to have been cleared out and boarded up...just wondered whether anyone knows anything more about what will become of the old building?

I had imagined the approved planning application would be achieved by building on the current buildings. But of course that would count as a renovation and incur VAT. Whereas demolition and new build is VAT exempt - in our crazy planet warming world.
