ENGLISH TUTOR RECOMMENDATION

Full disclosure - my sister, Kate, is an English teacher and I'm recommending her as she's been successfully tutoring my kids via Skype and she's interested in taking on more students.

She was Head of Department at a failing secondary school in Peterborough and turned the department around to be THE desirable school in the area that parents want to send their kids too. She left that school and is now Head of English in an international school.

She is passionate, intuitive, kind and an excellent teacher - if you're interested in chatting with her about how she could help your children over the summer or in term, her details are below:

Does your child dread their English lessons? Complain about how to approach homework? Resist support and help? Or is your child coasting? Able but resting on an innate ability to succeed without having to invest! Is your child anxious about beginning secondary school in September and needs a boost or is your child embarking on their GCSE English course and would like a little extra help? Well I might well be able to add confidence, drive and achievement enabling your son or daughter to be excited about their success.

I am an enthusiastic, motivated and highly dynamic English language and literature teacher of 26 years with educational prowess in the secondary field, leadership expertise and an outstanding record in inspiring, motivating and challenging students; promoting learning progress, demonstrating curriculum knowledge and driving results for leading schools in fast-paced settings internationally.

We all lead busy lives and children learn best when in a safe and comfortable setting so it is my intention to lead one-to-one coaching via the magic of Face Time or Skype enabling children to remain at home ? negating the Mum or Dad taxi run - whilst receiving expert tuition.

Guidance will be given in three waves: face-to-face tuition, work marked in electronic format and individual progress reports sent after each session with clear identifiable next stages to ensure that progress is maintained.

If you would like to learn how I might help your child to excel in the field of English please don?t hesitate to contact me, Catherine Hobden, on 07747.843.687 / [email protected] / ?30 per hour

    • Ah sorry, it was comedy.
    • I have never used AI in my life. It's just notes from my forthcoming monograph on light industry in Dulwich and Camberwell 1879-1946 (dates chosen for obvious reasons).
    • Thank you, this really made me chuckle. It's like you met my brother as he would be the one taking more than his share. Plus the 'pikey' chutney is a winner. Unusual as in can't be identified??? Sadly I'm not the host otherwise I would definitely do that I regularly shop in the Cheese Block and am a fan. But as people have pointed out, there is no cheese shop that charges less based on bulk, so Aldi unusual cheeses may be what the familam receive! Yay, so I can get discounted mouse nibbled cheese still! Oooo, now I do love a Stinking Bishop. It actually offends my stepmum by it's stinkiness but luckily she is not one of the attendees at this particular gathering.  This is blooming genius. It's actually my partner who has the biggest issue with buying in plastic so I will have to hide the wrappers from him!
