arworld
Hi all!We are thinking about having a day out with our 16months old this Saturday. We would like to go somewhere out of London but not too far from ED.Can anyone recommend place / small village that we could visit and also any good restaurants that we could go for a lovely lunch?Thank you! snowboarder
Godstone Farm is nice and not too far. Not sure about lunch options - the cafe there is fine but not 'lovely'!! James Barber
Children under 5 are particularly vulnerable to eColi and don't get the keeping fingers away from mouths while at petting farms. bluesuperted
We spent last Sunday in Leigh on sea/Chalkwell/Westcliff on sea in Essec and had a fabulous time. Granted the weather was completely amazing and we swam in the sea, but wrapped up the beach would be just as fun for little ones. We had a 'caff' lunch on the sea front in Westcliff which was simple but great views and we nearly made it to a highly recommended cake shop (Stop the world) in Leigh but it had just closed at 3pm when we turned up.It took us just over an hour each way which was perfect for our car disliking 13 month old. VALFR59
We enjoyed two places with our son , who is 22 months old , the last two sunny WE- Seven Sister park East Essex : Nice walk in the "Alfriston wood" and the gardens(walk along small rivers and the sea/pebble beach after 30/40 min walking)Alfriston is a lovely small village , famous for weddings events, with differents nice restaurants. Pub George Inn good value for money and they have high chair/The Wingrove house, nice but not well adapt with children (no high chair)/ Pub it's 1.30/45 hrs from Dulwich- Whitstable, Kent: sea front less nice than the view you can find at the Seven siters but our son enjoyed watching the boats at the small port and you can walk without cars around on the sea front. At the the port ,good seafood restaurants children friendly, and the oysters were delicious.it's a fishing and harbour village.www.seewhitstable.comit's maximum 1.30 hrs from Dulwich in Kent. We will as well try in the future the suggestions of the members of EDF ...Thanks for your thread :) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/19904-recommandation-please-day-out-with-a-toddler-on-this-saturday/#findComment-480225 Share on other sites
bluesuperted
Also love Whitstable. Wheelers restaurant is to die for - but tiny and booking is essential. We took our baby when he was a few months old but can't comment on whether it's toddler friendly. Amazing fish, lovely boutiques - great day out with a babe in arms - ours slept most of the day due to the lovely fresh air and being safely tucked up in an Ergo! Ooh and saw Phil Spencer walking down the street which caused much excitement to my sister and I!! jollybaby
I was going to suggest godstone park farm too. There is a pub called the bell in the village which does nice food. James- I don't think they let you get quite as close to the animals anymore.
