A lighting question for someone ..........

Have a question for all you interior designers out there.

Am looking for a really large ceiling light shade similar to this one in the link above - as I'm looking for one that doesn't leave the light bulb in view/exposed.

Is there a particular name for these things? - lamp shades, but with a base.

Also any idea of possible sources?

Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

They tend to be called pendant light fittings and/or hanging shades.

To my knowledge, no specific name for one with a closed base, it's just a design feature.

You could try general high street/department stores e.g Habitat, Conran, Ikea, House of Fraser, Selfridges etc, or a specialist lighting shop e.g Christopher Wray.

Or try a google search for oversized pendant lights...

    • Hello.   Thanks Nigel and Hparker 😀   I've got new slots available for new students looking for a piano teacher or guitar teacher.   You could start in the new term beginning September, or I'm also available adhoc-styles through the summer holidays at times.   I teach all ages, in most styles, in lots of different ways according to how you learn/like to learn.   Give me a call or text on 07730 402336.   I have connections to lots of performance opportunities/networks too.   I run regular events /student concerts, and play in bands/perform.   Natalie.
    • So do I, but I think they are in trouble as well.  Anyway, that space wouldn't be big enough.
    • I'm not talking about Starmer. I was responding to a post which  said that  Corbyn was unelectable. How people voted in the "more hotly contested election" is irrelevant. Corbyn wasn't leading the Labour Party then. Starmer was. And the turnout for Labour reflects that.
