No. hrs/week: 20 hrs

Driving license required

We are looking for a warm, reliable, energetic and experienced childcarer to help look after our happy and active children (aged 2.5 and 3 months) during the times below from the beginning of November. We live on Brixton Hill on the 133/333/159/59/45/118 bus routes and near Brixton tube.

We are looking for someone who is flexible to work later hours if required, but the core hours will be:

Monday: 5pm-8pm

Tuesday: 9am-8pm

Wednesday: 5pm-8pm

Thursday: 5pm-8pm

The work will involve using our car to collect our 2.5 year old from nursery on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, driving her home, preparing dinner and doing the bath/bedtime routine with her on the cited days as well as Tuesday where I will be home with both children. During this day, the work would involve playing, engaging my 2.5 yr old in stimulating activities at home, taking her to the park and looking after our 3-month old son as and when required.

We are looking for someone who is great with young children and is able to provide them with a safe, fun and stimulating environment. We would also like help with light housework and light healthy cooking. Kika is bilingual and we would prefer someone with Spanish as their first or second language although this is not a must.

In addition to the 20 hrs/week, we can also offer additional babysitting work on a regular basis; and there might be extra hours offered to look after our son in a few months time, when I return to work. We would like to establish a long term relationship with someone who fits into our household and grows with our family.

Please note that CHILDCARE EXPERIENCE AND EXCELLENT REFERENCES ARE ESSENTIAL (they will all be followed up). Good English speakers, driving license holders and non-smokers only please; and a CRB check or willingness to have one done are essential. A willingness to commit for at least 12 months would be helpful. Pay would be around ?8-?10 an hour depending on levels of experience.

We would love to hear from you if you are interested. Please get in touch with your CV and covering email telling us why you are right for the job. We are open to people of all ages. We are a very friendly family with 2 rather active cats. Applications required by no later than Friday 21st October; we will be holding interviews in the last week of October and are aiming for an early November start (2nd / 3rd November).

    • TBF, the council has tackled graffiti on Walworth, Old and New Kent Roads - you can see that many businesses there have been cleaned up en masse - but Rye Lane hasn’t.
    • Hi, I am from the Southwark Day Centre and could collect some apples if I am. It too late... Bettina
    • Labour's latest Rye Lane Ward newsletter is now saying that demolition in the square will start this summer and that the wider station upgrade is expected to be signed off this year - as explained above, sadly wrong on both counts. It describes the renovation of adjacent buildings on Blenheim Grove as "successful", despite having lain empty for a couple of years, longer than the actual renovation works, before saying "the Council is hopeful [it] will see its first new occupants move in to this year". Cue desperate attempt to get at least one in before end of financial year? As for the other topic, in "November 2023, faced with a huge increase in graffiti across the borough, Labour-run Southwark council took action". Nice turn of phrase eh? Rather, after community pressure regarding years of inaction by said Labour-run council, it's finally started to do a little bit, a little late. Surely there would be more chance of resolving issues if our council could for once be part of an honest, informed discussion?
