Boiler repair man - please recommend

Yet another shout for John Powers 07977 909 339. My insurance company (Swinton) gave up trying to find someone 22 hours after my 'emergency' call about the boiler breaking down and 'authorised' me to find someone myself. Came on this list, saw the good references for John - he came within 2 hours, diagnosed the problem in minutes, made a temporary fix and ordered the part, which he came and fitted the next day. Good rates, nice man.

Peter Bennison came and replaced our (extremely) old boiler. A friend recommended him, and I would definitely recomend him too.

I called him 10 days ago about our worcester boiler, which a) needed servicing b) needed new parts. He researched the parts for us before he even saw the boiler, came round to give us a quote, and outlined all available options. We knew we had to replace the boiler before we'd contacted him, and with his honest attitude we thought him best man for the job.

On Monday Peter and 4 co-workers came to remove the old boiler, and replace it with a new combi boiler. They arrived at 8am and left at 4 having flushed and cleaned our entire system and adding thermostats to each radiator. Very efficient, honest snd helpful, hard working and considerate, a very good job well done.

Hi there, Was just reading through this thread and wanted to share this with you - I had a lot of trouble with my boiler when I first moved into my new house. As I was tight for money because of the move I decided to do some googling before calling out an engineer. Luckily I struck gold as I came across a series of videos on YouTube by a company called corgi homeplan, they are incredibly easy to follow and helped me a fix a problem that I may have had to pay ?100 or so to have an engineer come out and fix. This is the video that I used https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VK2Y_uFn56g but there are lots of others on there that might help you!

    • You could try asking  ChatGPT? Give it the information you have posted here, and ask for suggestions in your preferred geographical areas (eg South and Central London, or whatever). It recently saved me hours when I was looking to see if there was a cheaper  energy tariff for my usage, and it  gave me other very useful relevant  information. I've also used it for several other things, and it has been eye openingly helpful. ETA: I know there are various issues around AI, so please if forum members are reading this and want to discuss them (I don't), don't do it on this thread!
    • Yes it would be easier, and I give a lot to the hospice shops, but for various reasons there are certain things I prefer to give to Oxfam. However I might go through the books and see if some could be donated more locally. I think in any charity shop staffed by volunteers, the reception you get must depend on the member of staff. The Oxfam bookshop have always been very happy when I've taken shedloads of books there in the past. On the other hand, I've taken things to the hospice shop that were received very grumpily when they hadn't even looked in the bag or asked what they were. It felt like I was being a nuisance and causing them more work. I don't remember a previous thread on here  about the Oxfam shop and parking, but that's possibly because it wasn't relevant to me at the time.
