Hi there, once again apologies to ppl bored with me posting these. But here are some great country walks - ideal for kids and adults - in Kent but not far into the green belt mostly. Many are doable by direct train services from Peckham/Nunhead etc. Please take a look: https://kentwalksnearlondon.com/

Know many of the walks well and may cycle out tonight if weather improves. Sadly too many of the pubs are the brewery wreckers Greene King - hopefully they have guest ales on or otherwise it is Guinness.

He's missed out the wonderful Queens Arms at Cowden Pound, community run

Hi Malumbu

Cowden Pound pub is great... though a bit out of the way of my walks I think (near Hever though...). Really like the Castle Inn at Chiddingstone that serves Larkins, although can be touristy. To be honest, if I'm thirsty not too bothered.

Great, glad you enjoyed it. In same area but actually even nicer I can recommend the Fackenden Down walk that starts from Shoreham Station; it's a similar length but takes you up into the hills east of the main valley which are so peaceful and rural. It's at https://localkentwalks.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=3176&action=edit

    • But a larger number, in a more hotly contested election, didn't. It is an anomaly that Starmer won a landslide in seats with a turnout for Labour which would have shamed Labour leaders in all the 21st and much of the post war 20th century.
    • I was not suggesting anything else!   I'm not sure how you interpret what I said  as "irrelevant"? I was responding to a post saying that Corbyn was "unelectable". My point was that a  large number  of the electorate  voted for him!
    • that's exactly what happened - Brickhouse were forced to close due to rent hike and then Gail's didn't move in until covid restrictions lifted and normality resumed. Gail's would have opened much sooner as they were lined up and able to offer the landlord much higher rents. Brickhouse was a local favourite
    • The Brickhouse closed just before Covid December 2019. Nothing to do with Gails muscling in as they didn't move into till December 2022. Stop trying to fit a false narrative into a story
