Canvasing opinion here so no flaming please!

Is is somehow in bad taste or unlucky to have an office baby birthday sweepstake. What if the baby dies or there are complications

i don't think it's unlucky at all....in fact I think it's a nice way of involving other people.

I've participated in sweepstakes before where we've guessed names, weight and birthdate.

You could always do it for charity -

We're thinking of doing this for our one due in February as it can then extend to family, friends and work colleagues and no one person has to worry about collecting the money.

Go hopefully I say - if anything awful happens, few people will think to criticise you for such a lighthearted gesture.

Think it's a great idea. I've participated in others, and then we did it for our two kids too. If anything dreadful happened, trust me, the sweepstake will be the last thing on anyone's mind.
