JessicaCT
I hope everyone's going to get cross about this:http://www.southlondon-today.co.uk/news.cfm?id=39647&headline=%E2%80%98Rent%20hike%20will%20be%20a%20disaster%E2%80%99Apparently landlords of Brixton Village (one of the best things to happen to South London for some time) want to hike the rents already. It was probably inevitable it would turn into Borough Market, but surely not this fast? womanofdulwich
sorry i CANT OPEN YOUR LINK. You would have thought after the riots landlords would be more cautious-are the rents low at the moment? snowy
What on earth do the riots have to do with small pop up restaurants? There are lots of incubator / free rent offers for new businesses in Granville Arcade, those who have been there for years are now facing additional costs and rent increases. Annette Curtain
I was in there today.http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg835/scaled.php?server=835&filename=cornuphoto.jpg&res=mediumhttp://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg510/scaled.php?server=510&filename=drspiritphoto.jpg&res=mediumIt looked suitably busy & vibrant indeed. It's hard to get the balance right in any of these places though. And the standard has moved up somewhat, though I do like some of the madder looking places too ( like the ju-ju/spiritual shop ) it adds to the overall experience. What you don't want is the Hoxton/Portabello thing happening there with "safe-but-hip" Byron burger et al blah blah blah moving in. It's a homogenous plateau from there on in (except for the landlords of course )Other things are moving along in the area too, with three new markets opening in Station Rd. Brixton Friday food market starts Nov 4th. Brixton Flea market will be on the 1st saturday of each month starts Nov 5th. Brixton Vintage & Retro market on the 3rd saturday of each month starts Nov 19th.See here for other south-london-guff & not a bad little paper to boot.NETTE(tu) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/20225-brixton-village/#findComment-494503 Share on other sites

Otta
Friend of mine is opening a new bar called Seven in Brixton Market, opening in a week or two. Go along and check them out. They will also be doing food in 2012. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/20225-brixton-village/#findComment-494806 Share on other sites
