Hello everyone

last week I went to the East Dulwich Fusion (where pool is) for a football class for young children (3-5 year olds). There were five mums and kids (only kids playing!) and the children really had great fun.

The coach, Dave, is clearly passionate about football and also excellent with the little ones. I found the class to be not just about scoring goals, but also good for learning about colours, waiting, taking turns, making friends, building confidence and then of course practising physical skills.

So we were really sad to learn that that was the last class because Dave was losing money in renting the space with so few people turning up. He has now decided to set up a new one on Wednesday 4.30-5.30 pm still at Fusion, hoping more children who are at nursery in the morning can attend. So I am trying to help him out by spreading the word as I've never seen the class advertised anywhere and I would love for my little boy to keep attending.

Please join us next Wednesday. It will be great fun.

PS Dave's number is 0793 1304 183

PS2 I am not a friend or relative of the coash nor do I have any financial interest in the class. I just know that my son loved it!

It sounds great..my not quite 3 yr old (ok 2.5 yr old!) adores football and I was sad we couldn't make the tuesday class...but this new one is a bit late for us to be out with the baby too...shame...

Is it advertised much do you know? I looked on the ed fusion website and could find no mention of it....

no, no mention of it. Not advertised at all. I also think the 4.30 is a bit late, but there doesn't seem to be a perfect time that fits in with everyone. My son is not 3 yet either so that shouldn't be a problem. Maybe we could ask for a slightly earlier time of 4 pm?

not sure the 4-5 slot is a possiblity, i guess we can ask the coach next week. it would be difficult for me with naps (although he seems to be not so interested anymore!)

also if you feel class is too long, you could leave earlier. but i found that he manages to keep them well entertained even for that long, which is great.

Yes Tuesday morning would have been absolutely perfect for us too, a class starting at 4.30 is just too late. I have never seen this football class advertised, perhaps if the organiser addresses this he might drum up more kids.

If the class reverts back to Tuesday am I would definitely attend with my son, as it stands we don't have a class/activity on a Tuesday.

ok, thank you for the info about tue. i wonder if it is worth that you calling the coach directly and asking him wether he would do another class on tue. i guess that was the problem, the class simply wasn't advertised at all! i would go to either.

Hmmm, I posted the info about tues morn class on here after our first visit but I only had one person contact me?

    • This week's edition of The Briefing Room I found really useful and impressively informative on the training aspect.  David Aaronovitch has come a long way since his University Challenge day. 😉  It's available to hear online or download as mp3. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m002n7wv In a few days time resident doctors -who used to be known as junior doctors - were meant to be going on strike. This would be the 14th strike by the doctors’ union since March 2023. The ostensible reason was pay but now the dispute may be over without more increases to salary levels. The Government has instead made an offer to do something about the other big issue for early career doctors - working conditions and specialist training places. David Aaronovitch and guests discuss what's going on and ask what the problem is with the way we in Britain train our doctors? Guests: Hugh Pym, BBC Health Editor Sir Andrew Goddard, Consultant Gastroenterologist Professor Martin McKee, Professor of European Public Health, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine Mark Dayan, Policy Analyst, Nuffield Trust. Presenter: David Aaronovitch Producers: Caroline Bayley, Kirsteen Knight, Cordelia Hemming Production Co-ordinator: Maria Ogundele Sound Engineers: Michael Regaard, Gareth Jones Editor: Richard Vadon
    • That was one that the BBC seem to have lost track of.  But they do still have quite a few. These are some in their 60s archive. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0028zp6
