Handyman wanted

Recommended Posts

Hey, I need a nice handyman to come round and do a few little jobs in my home. These are:

Replace two plug sockets that are falling off the wall (one single, one double)

Cut out rotten wood and regrout behind kitchen sink

Replace metal carpet edger in doorway

Can't see it taking more than a couple of hours. Can send pics if needed.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

Lily

Hi Lily,

I can highly recommend Vince's team for building and maintenance issues. Recently John Lewis came by to install a new dishwasher. They could not complete the installation because there was a small leak from the waste water hose in our kitchen and suggested that the hose would need to be replaced. That would have required tearing up the kitchen floor which I wanted to avoid at all costs.

I contacted Vince and he sent out a colleague (Andrew) to look at the situation. Andrew quickly realized that the hose had the wrong adapter attached to it quickly went out to get the right adapter from a local plumbing supply store. After installing and sealing the adapter, Andrew completed the installation of the dishwasher. Moreover, he made sure to clean up very carefully and fully explained to me what he was doing. I could not have been happier with the quick and quality service. And the price was very fair. I will definitely use Vince and his team again. You can reach Vince at 07931 737 773.

Cheers,

Kerry

    • So have you never been in a house where the gas hob was turned on but not ignited?  You get a smell of gas,  You do not get an explosion when you light the flame.   You have to have a very high concentration of methane (over 4.4%)  for this to happen, the smell of the gas would be obvious half way down the street.  They add mercaptans to natural gas to give it that smell at very low concentrations.   Gas explosions happen once in a blue moon, in places like residential homes in the basements where, if unchecked, a leak can get up to explosive concentrations.   Back to my original comment about Bunsen burners.  You'd got 30 kids in a classroom but no explosions.   The establishment of Corgi (now Gas Safe) and the compulsory annual testing of boilers and cookers was mainly due to the relatively high number of deaths from carbon monoxide poisoning from faulty appliances and blocked flues in rented properties. I don't expect the OP to test it themselves, I would, but that his my decision.  But you may get Natural Grid to do this free of charge if you ask nicely. I thought the video was hilarious.  The guy shouts don't do this yourself, call in help.

    • Or maybe let @malumbu come round and test it for you, thus potentially getting two birds with one stone 🤣
