Hi

I am a local parent and I am in the process of setting up a new business 'Raise and Shine' that runs local courses for parents coaching them in parenting skills and I wanted to gauge interest. The 6-week course is designed to help improve family life by providing parents with the toolkit of skills they need to:

-Successfully encourage cooperation from their children

-Develop their children's confidence and motivation

-Help them to help children to better manage their emotions

-Prepare their children to succeed

-Establish clear rules

-Respond effectively to negative behaviour

-Be calmer and more present for their children (and in the rest of life!)

-Clarify what they are aiming for as a parent

-Deal with specific 'tricky' issues such as mornings, tantrums, mealtimes, bedtimes, screen-time and sibling rivalry

The course is suitable for parents of children aged from 2 to teens, and will take place on either Wednesday evenings or Friday mornings in Peckham Rye. Cost ?240. The price includes VAT, Course Manual, all other course materials and refreshments.

It's very early days but I have an embryonic website that you are welcome to look at www.raiseandshine.co.uk where you can find out a bit more about me and what 'Raise and Shine' aims to do. I'd welcome any feedback and let me know if you might be interested.

    • The SSRS app (Safer seas and rivers service), is worth downloading. It gives you real time updates on water safety / sewage discharges. It's pretty eye opening / alarming, how regularly areas are not safe, but reassuring when you do get the 'all clear'.
    • The programme was brilliant and makes me wary now of sea paddling as so many areas affected. My daughter was working at a bank when privatisation of utility companies were floated. Bank advised its staff that only x number of shares could be purchased by individuals as Government rules at that time. She reported that certain people were seeking double and triple shares. Bank told her to ignore the guidelines as those customers had thousands of pounds in the bank. She was so disgusted at the banks attitude she handed in her notice, She decided that the financial world was too corrupt. Two degrees later - she now works in the NHS as an OT in mental health unit.
