There has been a number of catalytic converters stolen from cars recently, especially from the Toyota Prius model. Could you send this out to your residents for them to be aware and take measures if they can to stop this.?

Ours was stolen this afternoon in broad daylight in Danby Street, Copleston Road end. They took the convertor and both sensors too.

My guess would be these are destined for the minicab market.

Actually they're stolen for the metals inside them. There was a news report about the rise in thefts - 900 in the Metropolitan Police area since July.

Is there something special about the one in the Prius ?

Maybe it is easy to access, or because there are so many prius's the thieves are more familiar with finding and removing it making it quicker to nick.
