I'm looking to place an order with Peppermint store for the new Phil and Teds Promenade but it will be a pre-order and I wondered if anyone has any experience of their customer service. Have always bought buggies from John Lewis due to their good customer service but John Lewis don't seem to be taking pre-orders for the Promenade!

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Hi Amy

I bought a mountain buggy duet from there in september and had to pre-order it. Their customer service was fine, apart from the fact they over overcharged us as we had to put a deposit down then pay the balance when we picked it up. They got the amount of deposit wrong and overcharged us but refunded us quickly over the phone once I'd pointed it out. I wouldn't say their customer service was any better than anyone else's but it was perfectly acceptable in my case. Getting through to the store on the phone could take a while as you have to go through an automated system. Hope that helps.

No experience of buying from Peppermint, but they do seem to charge top whack! Perhaps worth googling to see whether there's a better deal out there?

Just got a P&T from Baby Nest in Croydon, good price and customer service - though no sign of the Promenade on their website, worth a call? Also got a Cameleon from a place called A3 Baby Barn - out Kingston way. A bit of a trek but I expect they deliver. Again, v good deal and customer service.

Nothing against Peppermint, just thought they were pricey when I was on the hunt!

I've got something on order from them and have been impressed with their communication so far. Whatever you do, don't buy from Lullaboo Baby - having waited over two months for a pram we cancelled our order and are yet to get a refund, it's been a stressful nightmare!

I bought a bugaboo bee package from

Peppermint online. It was all fine, and at the time (3 years ago) they were offering by far the cheapest deal, so not always high on price. Whenever I've needed anything I've popped into the Clapham store and they have been brilliantly helpful.

We bought our bugaboo chameleon at the Kingston on (priced checked vs john lewis) They were great in store, great on the phone but when we went to pick up from the Old Kent road branch they didn't have it and were rubbish. This branch has now closed... When we spoke to the customer service they were great and very apologetic. We got the buggy in the end from the northcote road branch and they were great.
Went to Northcote road store today to try out other alternatives and have pre-ordered the Promenade. In case anyone else is looking at this option, Pramcentreonline had a package that was around ?150 cheaper than all other retailers and although Peppermint said they don't do price match on pre-orders, the store spoke to head office on my behalf and eventually, we got the price match. Been impressed with the store so far!

    • Every year they ask for more and every year it is an exhausting process pushing back on that for local residents and councillors. What annoys me is that at the post event consultation/ feedback this year, I specifically asked them if the rumours around applying for two weekends next year were true. They told me no. So that was a lie. Anyway, we go again.

    • Rant ahead: You're not one of them but unfortunately, there's a substrate of posters here that do very little except moan and come up with weird conspiracy theories. They're immediately highly critical of just about any change, and their initial assumption is that everyone else is a total fucking contemptible idiot. For example: don't you think that the people who run the libraries will have considered the impact of timing of reconstruction on library users? (In fact, we know they have - because they've made arrangements at other libraries to attempt to mitigate the disruption). After all, these are the people that spend their whole working week thinking about libraries and dealing with library users (and the kids especially). You don't go into the library game for the chicks and fame - so it's fair to assume that librarians are committed to public service and public access to libraries, including by kids. Likewise the built environment people (engineers, architects, construction managers, project managers, construction contractors, subcontractors or whoever is on this job) are told to minimise disruption on every job they do. The thing that occurs to us as amateurs within 30 seconds of us seeing something is probably not something a full time professional hasn't thought about! Southwark Council, the NHS, TfL, Dulwich Estate, Thames Water, Openreach - they're not SPECTRE factories filled with malevolent chaosmongers trying to persecute anyone. They're mostly filled with people who understand their job and try to do their best with what they've been given - just like all of us. Nobody is perfect or immune from challenge, and that's fair enough, but why not at least start from the assumption that there's a good reason why things have been done the way they have? Any normal person would be pleased that their busy, pretty, lively local library is getting refurbished, and will have more space and facilities for kids and teens, and will be more efficient to run and warmer in winter. But no, EDT_Forumite_752 had kids who did an exam 20 years ago, and this makes them an expert on library refurbishment who can see it's all just stuff and nonsense for the green agenda and why can't it all be put off... 😡😡😡
    • I completely misread the previous post, sorry. For some reason I thought the mini cooper was also a police vehicle, DUH.
