Would be very grateful to hear from anyone who has a wood pellet boiler, particularly advice on the real cost of fitting one - what's the cheapest it can be done for? Are there any other subsidies to be found on top of the ?900 govt sub? The prices for these things look suspiciously high to me and am just wondering whether the ?900 per boiler subsidy is helping more of the public to fit them or is just keeping the manufacturers' profits up?

Is it possible to buy cheaper directly from continental Europe? Is there a second hand market in continental Europe - doesn't seem to be one here yet. Any advice from the experienced very welcome. Thanks.

    • Closing down completely. The lovely people there are all retiring. Thanks, but Deptford is a long way to go to make two journeys to  take and collect a car! Do they not do even relatively minor repairs if it fails its MOT first time? Then that would require four journeys 😭 Wondering if there's already a thread on here for garage recommendations? People on my road WhatsApp group have recommended some local ones. I'm particularly gutted because apart from the lovely people who worked there,  Dell was a five minute walk for me!
    • I did think that might be the reason, but five years out of seven it's going to be a weekday (I think. Not sure how leap years might affect things!)
    • Probably because the 5th was a weekday. We still have the weekend to come. Also, some fireworks going off nearly every night for the last few months. Last night something was being let off that made a very deep booming noise every 10 seconds or so. That said, if the general public are beginning to see the harm done by firework noise and choosing to use low noise options and refusing to support organised events that still use the full throttle type, I for one would be very happy. Does anyone know if the Herne Hill Velodrome Halloween fireworks event used low noise options?
