We asked a station manager (or some such, not certain of job title) at Peckham Rye before Christmas and she said Spring 2012, it was ahead of schedule and would certainly be up and running before Olympics. Hope she knew what she was talking about, it will make a huge difference to journey times...
At the last demonstration in Peckham Rye station, (in the Summer); they advised it would be running from Christmas 2012, as there are major stuctural changes to be made to the platform 1 & 2; as they will be removing the office and the waiting room to allow for the extra crowd capacity. They should be running every 10 minutes.

James,

I don't think Boris had a choice in the matter since the ELLX2 was subjected to the Comprehensive Spending Review in 2010 and consequently the projected completion date delayed until the end of 2012. All of these information are in the public domain btw.

The current work is running under budget and ahead of schedule. All good news so far.

    • Quote "it was quite clear that it wanted to nip me." Doesn't say clearly that it tried to bite you , but instead implies that you had the impression, right or wrong that it wanted to nip you.  unless you are clear others will read it how you write it.  As for being a jobsworth, what a quaint old expression, haven't heard that for a long while.

The safest additional security measure is what's called a ghost immobiliser, which cannot be traced through the car's electronics, meaning it is difficult to bypass. They cost a bomb however.
    • I’ve reported two instances of mobile phone theft to 999 in recent times. On both occasions several police units have arrived very quickly - in one case they found the perpetrator.
